Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

We have owned at least 14 new Hondas since 1978 and have been happy with them all. Previous to this Civic I owned an Accord EX. The Civic drives as well as the Accord. We still own an 2005 Odyssey EX and love it.

Bough it a year ago for my wife. Since then I had to tighten to nut that holds the wiper and... thats it. Just regular maintance. Its a good reliable car. I understand that my wife thinks its too weak, but its a commuter car, not a racing car. (She used to have a 5 spd 93 Civic DX when a teen & drive it at 100-120 mph) I commend this car for reliabilty. So far, so good.

I bought this car with only 70k and its the worst Honda ever made. Dont get me wrong, I love Hondas and Ive had two previous little civics that have lasted me well over 200k. But wow I never thought that Honda would fail me, till now. Had to fix transmission at 75k! I have older Hondas with more miles and with the original tranny! Had to change the muffler cuz it rattles really bad every time u go over a water puddle. Lots of road noise and rattles. Changed both bearings. AC is weak! Overall only thing worth is the style of the car, but that really fooled me. Terrible car, and this is coming from somebody with a civic forum acct as well. Be careful. Worst Honda ever! Do the research, trust me!

Decent car but not worth the $. Poor radio, poor ride quality and extremely loud interior. Im 6-2" and fit comfortable in car. Ergonomics are good but the position of the e brake is bad and uncomfortable on leg. Good thing is I got 33 mpg average. On long highway rides, almost 38 mpg. I got sick of the road noise and harsh ride and traded this car in. You can get more car for the money. I traded mine in for a Legacy. For $2K more, you get all wheel drive, awesome radio, awesome ride.

This is a follow up from my first review. Ive had my car for 9 months. The gas mileage is wonderful - on a 2k round trip, I averaged 38-40mpg on the highway even through the mountains of TN! In FL, mpgs were closer to 45! Had a couple of service needs that I didnt quite expect so soon. O2 sensor at 63k & recently replaced the timing belt at 69k (but the car is 5 yrs old). Control arm bushings also need to be replaced. Mechanics said these are all typical for these Civics but overall theyre still some of the best cars out there. I wish it had more power. But this is the car to take on a long road trip!

During the fall of 07, I noticed a pattern of gas prices going way up in the near future. The wifes 04 Titan 4door 4x4 was getting 12-14 mpg. Kept the truck and bought the Civic hybrid. Wow, went to 37 mpg when she drives it, and 43 mpg when I drive. Shes a leadfoot! Great car, nice ride, looks great, all the bells and whistles anyone would need, Honda reliability, will hold its value like all Hondas. I ride a 05 Honda st1300 motorcycle bought it brand new, many miles never any problems. The Civic did have the rear suspension fixed under warranty 05/28/08 they were wearing the tires out due to an alignment, negative camber problem. About one hour to fix, 2 new tires, no cost and ready to go. Great car

Ive put about 21,000 miles on her and Im averaging 30-32 mpg with a lot of city driving. Nice car, I love how fuel efficient and reliable it is. Also the coupe is a very sporty stylish little car. The rims especially stand out. The EX and up come with some really nice features like a sunroof, automatic climate control, a backup and right-side camera, touchscreen info/entertainment, a separate driver info screen, etc. The driving dynamics are good once you get up to speed. The steering is nice and responsive and the braking is excellent. Unfortunately, the acceleration is underwhelming, especially on busy freeways. For the coupe the headroom is pretty bad. Im 58" and the front is fine but my head touches the ceiling in the back. Anyone taller than 62" would not have enough headroom in the front.
