This Year's Model Updates:

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Nice little car - 2004 Honda Civic

Compared to the 2001 Nissan Sentra we traded in, this car is FAR superior. Tightly built, handles well, engine feels spirited across all RPMs, and MUCH more quiet. Plus, the general feel of the Honda controls; its far superior then the clunky feel of its Nissan counterpart. Ill never buy another Nissan again.

  • Planet saver with a Big price tag - 2004 Honda Civic

Legendary Honda built and quality for engine, chassis, suspension. Questionable reliability of battery & electric motor. Ride quality is firm, handling is acceptable and price is slightly on the high side. Acceleration is fair.

Civic ex sedan, fun to drive reliable gas saver. good buying and operational experience as a commuter and on long trips. Not as comfortable or fun to drive as vw new bettle, but less expensive to operate, more reliable, and dependable in the long run. great little car for point #A to #B. not a sports sedan but nice.trading in my vw bug for a 2004 Civic like my wifes

  • Good Commuter - 2004 Honda Civic

I have owned 3 Hondas previous to this purchase. I see the build quality dropping. There are more rattles in this one then the others. With 17,000 miles on the vehicle I have not had any service issues. I commute 100 miles (minimum) daily with steep grades of 6% to 8% for 15 to 20 mile distances. My highway to city driving ratio is 80%/20% respectively. With these two factors, I am getting 40 to 44 MPG (consistently). My worst tank full was 37 MPG. However, I am using fuel saving measure when I commute. This car is more comfortable than I ever thought it would be. However, there is to much road noise. I recommend the Civic as a commuter.

  • Mixed Blessing - 2004 Honda Civic

HCH is peppy & responsive. CVT is much smoother than regular auto transm. Handles well on curves & highway. Brakes are right there. Actual mileage lower than expected (37-40 mpg, mixed suburban driving). Bumps on steering wheel (@10 & 2 oclock), plus its thickness & wide ribbing, interfere with hand placement for small-to-average womans hand. Even with seat cranked up, rear visibility is poor (Im 5-5"). Seat is uncomfortable on long trips. Passenger wipers sweep into drivers visual field has effect of narrowing view & is disturbing; transm. sticks chrome plate reflects sun glare into drivers eyes- a driving hazard. Exterior finish scratches easily.

  • Great Car BUT interior is a NIGHTMARE - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

My new civic is a joy to drive. Went from a gas hog Explorer to a gas saver and I am loving it. I get around 36 to 37 MPG on average. In fact I drove a total of 500 miles on vacation without having to fill up. The exterior is sleek and sporty for the class it is in. I do not have a spoiler, but think the spoiler really dresses the car up. The interior is decent but needs serious work (see improvements)!

  • Civic Hybrid takes the lead - 2004 Honda Civic

If you want transportation that is economical, reliable and enjoyable, the Civic Hybrid is the car to have. No frills, nothing special, except great mileage and performance that gets the job done

  • sporty yet sensible - 2004 Honda Civic

This is a great car! It sporty but also sensible! I wanted an eclipse..but my parents disagreed because thats not a very safe car..the honda civic two-door was a great compromise! its got a great look, but still has antilock brakes and other safety features

My 2002 honda civic sir is the worst vehicle I ever owned. Gas guage never worked, parking brake never worked, cruise control quit, rain cutter mouldings came out, rear window washer motor and assembley had to be replaced. Gas mileage was poor. The engine ran rough cold and would cough and sputter when hot. The longer I drove it the rougher the clutch and shifting became. I put 31000 km on this car in 11 months. I dealt the car for a four door civic after a 11 months of trouble with the sir hatchback.
