Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

The 05 Civic EX SE is a awesome!!! This vehicle combines the dependbility & affordability of the traditional civic sedan with some style & pep. Under the hood, a larger engine provides all the pickup you need to get onto that highway from a deadstop with trucks and larger vehicles racing by. Inside the 6 disc CD changer is nice and , sytems cranks , and the dashboard is cool when lit. The spoked 15 alloy wheels and rear spoiler will get you second looks from padestrian traffic so be ready!

Great overall car. Has enough power to have some fun with yet still maintain its reliability and great gas mileage. No problems as of yet but still breaking the car in. Get comments from enthusiasts all the time about how clean it looks. This car serves and supports the reason why it was built. I love the interior but some may wish to have a different color as it is quite hard to keep clean.

Bought this as an efficient second vehicle and find myself using it every time I go out the door. Easy to handle, plenty of zip, quick to park and not one issue in 10,000 miles. Plenty of room for my 63" 250 body.

  • A great car - 1999 Honda Civic

I leased a 99 Honda Civic EX for three years. Just turned it in yesterday. I never had a single problem with it. Just one flat tire in three years. Only complaints are the cup holders, instrument panel lighting, and the so- so acceleration. It handles fairly well. Good visibility out the front and rear.

Only problem we have had with our Civic is uneven rear tire wear. After taking it into the local Honda dealership they were able to determine that there was a problem with the rear suspension that caused the tire wear. They replaced all of my tires (over $600) under warranty and stopped the problem. Later, they were able to correct the suspension problem with a replacement part and we have had no further problems. We average in the low to mid 30s on daily mpg and have gotten as high as 44 mpg on the highway. Fantastic car. We have driven Hondas since 1987 and have never had our vehicles in the shop for anything other then scheduled maintenance.

  • Best 300,000 miles ever - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my civic brand new and will never sell. It has 299,000 miles today and have only replaced front pads, tires, and two alternators. No scheduled maintenance or tune-ups ever done. Change the oil with standard oil every 10,000 miles. Car has been a dream come true. Just wish the new ones were not so over priced.

  • Gas mileage??? - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

After over a year of research and shopping we decided it was a no-brainer to go with the Civic. The car has 1500 miles on it, and the best mpg we got was 25.4. The mix is about 70% highway, 30% around town. Honda customer care and the dealership both say the mileage should improve after or around the 1st oil change. 5000 miles. We both work at home so we wont find out until next year about August. Sounds like Im getting the run-a-round from both. We like everything else about the car, but we bought it mainly because of its great gas mileage.

  • Very reliable and cost effective car - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

I love this car. Since I purchased it I have spent a grand total of $30.00 on repairs. One of the sway bar links needed replacement. This car runs as smoothly as it did from the day I first drove it. Excellent mileage as well - 40 MPG on the hwy. My only issue is that the seating isnt very comfortable and after a long trip I have a bit of soreness.

  • After 40,000 miles... - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

After 40,000 miles, my Hybrid is still a solid, comfortable ride. Not a performance vehicle, but a good commuter car. I have been somewhat disappointed in mileage compared to the ads/EPA. On my 80 mile round-trip flat highway commute (70-80mph) the car averages 38mpg. Slowing down really makes a difference, at 55 mph, it gets closer to 52mpg. Im still having fun learning to tweak the mileage, and I am slowing down. So far, great reliability, no mechanical problems at all.

This is a great car, peppy for only 127 Horsepower great styling and excellent interior, I brought this car a couple weeks ago after buying a 2001 4 Door EX and never having a major problem with it for four years. I had a SUV and the price of gas was killing me. I got 34MPG with this cars first tank of gas! This car is fun to drive and looks great, wish I got the door edge guards because of how wide the doors open, but you can fin them aftermarket pretty cheap.
