Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • I am so Happy!! - 2003 Honda Civic

I havent had any problems with my car. I love the way it drives, the only thing I miss is having more cubby holes to put my stuff. The sound system is great. It would be nice to have more than one intermittent speed on the wipers.

I LOVE THIS CAR, THE HANDLING THE SHIFTER, JSUT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAS COMMENTED ON IT... ITS A NEW FEEL AND NEW LOOK. THE SEATS HOLD ME IN PLACE WHEN IM FLYING THROUGH THE TURNS. ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS THE TIRES, THEY CHIRP IN 2ND AND THE WHEELS NEED TO BE A BIT BIGGER. I DID HAVE ONE PROBLEM THE MOONROOF LEAKED.. HAD TO BRING IT BACK...BUT THEY DID THAT QUICK AND GOT IT BACK TO ME

  • cheap and reliable - 1991 Honda Civic

Everything works on it, and that includes even the tape deck! It has no optional equipment, is very stripped down, which I love. In two years, Ive replaced the exhaust system, brake calipers, and CV boot. It has almost 150,000 miles and I expect to get 150,000 more. It costs me about $42/month to insure and I spend, even with gas exceeding $2.70/gal $25/week in gas. Everyone who tells me they had one, wishes they still had it, Ive never heard anything bad about these cars. Perfect for students or commuters, and very roomy.

  • Novelty has worn off a little - 2009 Honda Civic

OK - so with 8500 miles, the novelty has worn off a little. Its still a great commuter, but I agree with many of the other reviews: 1) comfortable on short rides painful on anything more than 2 hours 2) horrible power on hills, especially if stopped at a stop light and you have to start on an incline (takes about 3-5 seconds to really "get going") 3) very loud on anything over 3000 rpm (aka hills). I put on aftermaket wheels b/c I didnt like the stock - looks great, but did subtract 3 MPG (but worth it IMO) Ive averaged 37.5 MPG over the past 3,000 miles (and that does involve crossing a 9% incline daily to work). Bottom line - great for MPG lacks power / comfort.

  • The Civic of 02 - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my second Civic after buying a used 96 Civic a few years ago. I bought the 2002 Civic EX in Black. The drive is very smooth and theyve worked on the wind noise problem. When going over bumps and problems in the road, there the car adjusts to the road conditions making it better to drive. Besides comfort and drive, the best part of this car is the fuel economy. For a college student, this car is perfect because you put in a tank of gas and its going to last you 320miles ++.

  • Very happy with the Honda - 2003 Honda Civic

Fun to drive with the stick shift. I drive 65 to 70 mph hwy & get 34 to 36mpg-70% hwy. Door lock froze & broke. Noisy bushings in front steering when parking-too expensive to replace. 1st set of tires wore away in 10 to 20 thousand miles. Loud cabin on the hwy. Plastic cover over dash gauges cracked twice. Car is good in the snow. Very reliable. Nice steering. Interior detail very nice. Trunk holds golf clubs and more. Quality detailing. No shoddy moldings. Nice map lights. Stereo sounds good w/good controls. Power to pass people on Hwy. Accelerates easily to enter freeway. This is my 4th Honda.

  • Fabulous Car - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive had my Si for nearly a month. I also test drove the normal Civic, and that was fine, but the Si is a fab little car. For both tooling around town and for road trips, its a whole lotta fun to drive. The trunk space is great, and the backseats are spacious. I love the shifting and the dashboard design. I dont love the spoiler, but Im getting used to it. I wish the Si got better gas mileage, but with this kind of power, I get what Id expect. There are a lot of little design features--details--that are classy and practical. I absolutely love this car.

  • Love this car! - 2006 Honda Civic

What a difference between my old 1998 Civic EX and the 2006. Unbelievable!!! The tightness of handling is incomparabe. The exterior styling looks like a baby Beamer! I was seriously test-driving the Acura TSX, but for the $10,000 savings, I had to buy the Civic. Wish list would include optional leather seats. Also surprised the visors are not lit - theyre substantial, but lack lights.

  • Saved her life - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased this car for my 16 year daughter based on the safety features, the airbags. On May 24, 2007 Jordan was hit on the drivers side by a minivan traveling the posted speed limit (35mps). She was transported to Atlantas Level 1 Trama Unit. 7 hours later, she walked out with me without a scratch on her. The extent of her injuries was when she lost conscious on impact and had a headache. She said the fire & rescue guy told her the airbags saved her life. I brought her the exact same car (different color) a month later.

  • My best car ever! - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I have always been a fan of american cars, until now. I bought my Honda, and I could not be happier. It is pumping out 167 HP with minor modifications, and still getting almost 40 MPG. I have taken it in road trips, and it is a blast.
