This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. Highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, new exterior styling, an advanced interior design and more premium features. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style. Midway through the year, Honda will also introduce a new "GX" trim level that runs on natural gas.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, lots of standard safety equipment, roomy and refined interior, special Hybrid, GX and Si models.
Cons:
  • Polarizing dash design, top-of-the-line models are pricey.

Honda has returned to the head of the pack of compact cars with the new Civic. The car is great. The New Civic was appealing to at every angle other then front. Steering is improved as is engine and STANDARD SAFETY IS UNMATCHED.

  • Bad Car - 2006 Honda Civic

Ive owned Hondas for more than 24 years and this is the first Honda that merits a major complaint. No matter what is done, the car pulls to the right. Come to find out that there is no way to adjust caster and camber in the front or camber in the rear, only toe can be adjusted. After complaining to Honda and talking to two dealerships, there seems to be no way to fix the problem. The rear tires are so far out of alignment that it can be seen just by looking at the rear of the car. Honda says it is OK, even after their own equipment shows the out of spec alignment. I think Honda build quality has taken a serious decline. I would not recommend this car to anyone.

Ive owned several Hondas and Acuras in the past and they never seem to disappoint me. You only have to change the oil and occasionally replace the tires. For the 06 Civic, the refinement, fit & finish, and comfort remind me of a baby Accord. For the money, it is easily best in class. Im 61 and fit very comfortably in car - with height adjustable drivers seat and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, its very easy to find ideal driving position. The 350 watt 7 speaker (inc. subwoofer) stereo that comes with Navigation system is awesome. Nav system is best in industry and easy to use via voice commands. The Civic wont win any races from a red light but Im averaging 38 mi./gal.

  • A Sporty & fuel efficient alternative! - 2006 Honda Civic

Pleasant car to drive, tight suspension and handles nice. With a 50 mile round trip commute its pretty comfortable for a large stocky 6+ ft male. Not seeing the hood takes a bit getting used too but my last honda was similar. Overall this car is very fun to drive and cruise around town. Love the sporty exterior thats not plain looking. Great car as you come to expect from Honda.!! Recommend.

  • Great but design flaws - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

My first Honda. Great safety; good mileage. My fault for not paying attention to two major interior design flaws, in my opinion. Front headrests angled way too far forward, thrusting drivers neck forward when trying to sit back in the seat. Thought it was a mistake just on my car so ordered another headrest. Theyre all the same. No solution. Back seat headrests are perfect but they are not interchangeable. Also, severe front windshield glare due to expansive dash, which is a great thing otherwise! I was just going to replace the glass and the glass guy told me it would do no good. It takes a lot of getting used to.

  • almost perfect - 2006 Honda Civic

I love the look, inside and out. I had a 91 CRX for 13 years. But, had the car 1 month. On 3 tanks of gas, got 24mpg in the city, 30 on highway, and I drive very conservatively. If I knew it got this kink of mileage I wouldnt have bought it. My 1991 got 2x the MPG of this car in the city!

  • I like my honda - 2006 Honda Civic

the first 10.000 miles werent the greatest the front brakes had be be replaced the front end realigned then the paint bubbled off the front bumper and had to be fixed as well but other than that it has been very reliable and honda worked very well with me when they fixed my flaws in the car I drive 100 miles a day and the honda makes it more enjoyable with its new interior and the space it has inside for a smaller car I really appreciate where the speedometer is because I feel I dont have to take my eyes off the road as much

  • Problems as soon as warranty expired ! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

After doing my research I looked at several models of cars. Honda seemed to be the best rated. I needed a car I could trust to put a great amount of Highway miles on, since Im in sales. I explained this to the dealer when I purchased the car, they assured me this was the car for me. I started to experience brakes and rotor problems at 31,000 miles. I have had to replace the rotors and the pads. The car hit 60,200 miles and noises started to occur in the engine. I have since found out motor mounts need replaced and the warranty no longer good, Honda says itÂ’s not their problem. I end up paying the price for what I believe to be a Honda DEFECT,or is it just the way Honda builds their cars?

  • Build Quality Unsatisfactory - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased the car earlier this month. I noticed an oil leak a few days ago. The car is leaking oil from the main seal and the oil filter. Also, the passenger restraint light stayed on this morning until I turned the car off and started it again. I have taken the car to a Honda dealer in an effort to correct these problems. Therefore, I am very concerned regarding the build quality and reliability of this car.
