  • Issue With Some 2003 CRVs - 2003 Honda CR-V

Just got 03 CRV 2 weeks ago (old car was breaking down a lot and I have a baby) A couple days ago, we stopped for a red light and the car died. I panicked & called the dealership. They said they would call me back in 5 minutes (still waiting). It turns out that there is a problem with about 1-in- 200 new CRVs (not common enough for a recall). Their service bulletin reads " When the fuel tank is about 3/4 full, the engine may stumble or stall when the vehicle comes to a stop... due to fuel sloshing forward in the tank and causing a purge of fuel vapors to enter your engine." It was a 5-minute repair and was covered by warranty

What to drive? I picked the Honda 2003 CR-V EX over the Subaru Forester and Toyota RAV 4 and Highlander 4. Better rear leg room than the RAV, higher than the Subaru, only 5" shorter an 10 cubic feet less than the mildly underpowered Highlander 4, it had better gas mileage, better ride, acceleration and pricing than any of em. A very good SUV among very good SUVs.

Were not off roaders so this vehicle fits our bill. Just got back from a 1700 mile road trip, four adults loaded with luggage and usual gear, verdict: comfortable ride, relatively spacious accomodations, good fuel economy, reclining rear seats a nice touch, 6 disc cd made miles and hours a little easier to take.

  • Getting the Job Done - 2003 Honda CR-V

Using a tape measure I found it was the same size as my old minivan. We dont use the room in an Odyssey enough to justify it. CRV is better on fuel economy, lower insurance cost and price. Most important was the reliability rating from consumers report. I love the maneuverability and feel. Doesnt turn heads but it gets the job done at a better price and dependability. The LEV ratings of 8 was a plus. Honda has done a great job with this vehicle. The dealer was the only one who did NOT pack the vehicle with overpriced junk and run up the price. I should get 10 years out of it.

    1) The car is downright boring to drive. It doesnt handle like a car and off-road, is a joke. Is is not powerful. It really doesnt do anything bad but also nothing great. 2) The CRV is one of the noisiest vehicles I have been in lately. There is more road noise than can be imagined. 3) Quality: not what I would "expect" from honda. the wheels are already corroding (and I live where there is no humidity). The black plastic is fading horribly. The car has been in and out of the shop constantly. Everytime the oil is changed there are huge oil spots on my garage floor. Overall, i would give this car a 5 out of 10.

  • Is this a luxury car? - 2003 Honda CR-V

Just happy to get rid of Subaru Imprezas after my brother and I both havings major problems with 2 of them, both under 45,000 miles. I looked at Vibes, Matrixs and RAVs, the CRV wasnt even on my list until I stopped by a dealership. I was sold on this car on the interior design and quality of the car. Compared to the others in this price range, the CRV is like a luxury car, smoothest ride, easy handling, great features on the EX and so incredibly roomy (bigger and more comfortable backseat than even a Blazer). A friend with an Escape was amazed how much roomier the CRV was than his. When groups of us go places, everyone wants me to drive now.

  • Well Made Honda - 2003 Honda CR-V

I received my CR-V after much research on the internet in June 2002. Its an EX auto. It was great during the winter, and has good pickup and gas milage. The only problem is that my 10 year old pickup truck gives a better ride. I have returned it to the dealer about 4 times, and each time they say that they aline the tires. On the highway it still gives a rough ride....

  • Just Bought 03 CR-V - 2003 Honda CR-V

I just purchased a new CRV - 2003 EX model. I love the acceleration, build quality, expected reliability from Honda, and the quality interior. It is a small vehicle (I also have a Pilot), but it has nice handling, great turning radius, and relatively smooth ride. First tank of gas (around town) delivered 23+ mpg. Dealer was excellent to deal with - very professional (my wife actually did the deal and they treated her as the smart person that she is).
