Bought brand new. Always follow recommended maintenance and have had zero problems. None at all, still going strong at 105k. Mileage has stayed between 25-28 mpg, very good interior room for its size. Drives nicely for a SUV. Original tires only lasted for 27k, but not the CR- Vs fault. Plan on putting a lot more miles on it.

  • My Honda - 2004 Honda CR-V

My experience with my crv has been supurb. I have had to make numerous trips back and forth to the Tampa area this past year because of my sisters serious illness and battle with cancer. And I do have to say my CRV was awesome!! The ride from Palm Beach County to Hillsborough county was so smooth and the gas mileage and performance was fantastic. I loved driving back and forth only because the comfort and the handeling of my CRV was easy. I a woman feared driving the distance but with my Honda CRV I felt very safe and in control at all times.

  • Great value - 2004 Honda CR-V

Cavernous interior for such a small car, with good cargo space and a generous back seat, though taller drivers will want more leg room. Child/booster seats easy to install. Excellent handling: responsive engine, tight turning radius, great visibility and good feedback. Parking in tight spots is easy. AWD saved me on snowy days. MPG is mid 20s. Controls are simple and easy to use in the otherwise spartan interior. Great safety ratings, feels solidly built and proven very reliable after five years.

  • Honda is still tops - 2004 Honda CR-V

Had an older CRV when it first debuted. Was not happy with acceleration and smallness of car. Came back to it with the 2004 edition. Power was improved greatly. The EX edition basically gives you everything you need. Was able to purchase one that just came in before the dealer added all of thier extras to. Got a great deal on a rainy night.

  • How Could This Be? - 2004 Honda CR-V

I bought my CRV brand new and have always driven it very gently. From day 1, I noticed there is significant wind noise and road noise. I didnt think much of it at first, but then other mysterious noises began to show. I cant get the dealer to figure out where a rattling sound is coming from whenever I drive on rough surfaces. Then there is this high pitch whining noise that is very noticeable when the car is going 40-55mph. They say its a normal sound from the transmission. I dont believe it because it wasnt there for the first 4 years. And now the car averages 16 mpg. I know there are just annoying problems but they really reduce my enjoyment of driving this Honda.

  • My last Honda - 2004 Honda CR-V

Great reliable car for about 4 years. It did pretty well in deep snow, had lots of room for hauling just about anything. My A/C exploded at less than 58,000 miles. Honda told me to basically drop dead. There should be a recall on this A/C problem. Honda no longer cares about their customers.

  • CRV or Sorento?...CRV! - 2004 Honda CR-V

We were torn between the CRV and a Kia Sorento. The KIA was much nicer on the inside with many more standard options and a more luxurious feel to it all for the same price. Although we finally went with the Honda pretty much based on the gas mileage factor and the Honda reputation for quality. Although the CRV has a much smaller engine because of the weight it had better acceleration than the KIA. Our biggest problem was the availability of the EX AT model in the color we wanted (waited a month through 3 dealerships). We got the Mojave mist with saddle interior and added wood grain (which looks GREAT), roof rack, fogs, splash guards and a cargo cover.

  • Nice until A/C failed - 2004 Honda CR-V
    By -

I really liked my CR/V until the last few years. 1st, the cabin materials did not wear well. 2nd, the gas mileage seemed to decline over time to the point that I could not get more than 275 miles out of a tank even with highway mileage. 3rd, we had reliability problems. Had a $600 transmission sensor repair last year, and then the A/C compressor imploded and destroyed the entire AC system a few weeks ago. The cost for that repair was quoted at $3800 by the dealer, and American Honda refused to help even though theyve helped other customers with this, but left us out to dry despite owing a 06 accord and doing all service for both at the dealer. Were done with Honda for a while.

  • Air compressor blew up! - 2004 Honda CR-V
    By -

Shame on Honda! My a/c compressor blew up around 58000 miles. Since this was a known problem (read the reviews).. they replaced the parts but refused to pay for the service.. cost me about $500 not including rental car fees for the time it was in the shop and the $200 I spent at a private shop trying to diagnose the problem. (about $800 out of pocket total).

  • A good SUV for people with limited bucks - 2004 Honda CR-V
    By -

I just bought my CRV on middle Aug. I have already put 2000miles on it within one month since I commuted between two cities (150 miles round trip) twice a week. The only thing i am not confortable with is the fuel economy. On average, I need to visit gas station within two round trips. I guess its around 320miles per tank. Obviously, this is a great SUV for people who just begin to work and have limit financial resources, because the quality of this SUV just worth every dollar you spend. I will buy a BMW or LEXUS SUV when I graduate for sure. That will make me feel more professional.
