Ignore the owners manual - 2000 Honda CR-V
By EAB - October 28 - 10:39 amOne caveat. If you follow the owners manual on this model, you WILL have problems and perhaps MAJOR problems. Some idiot decided that US CR-Vs (98-2001 only) get a 105,000 valve interval in the owners manual while all other countries manuals state 30,000 miles. If you attempt to go to 105K without the valves adjusted, the engine may not make it. Ask Honda if you dont believe me. Instead, have the local Honda Dealer run the valves every 30,000K. If you are not sure if this has been done, get it DONE ASAP. While youre there, have em do the rear 4wd fluid as well as they lied about that one as well. It needs to be done every 30K.

Transmission going - 2000 Honda CR-V
By mary - August 19 - 3:25 pm76,000 miles, had new brakes at 50,000, now need new transmission. Whats going on? I thought Honda cars lasted forever. What causes transmissions to go? What will the car do when the transmission goes? This car needs more zip & doesnt like sharp turns. I can feel the tendency to turn over.

Buy this car! - 2000 Honda CR-V
By Brian & Judy - May 5 - 5:33 pmBought this car new in 2000. I had owned Honda cars in the past and trusted them to be reliable. As of today (5 May 08), my trusty CR-V has nearly 150,000 mile on it and still runs perfectly. All I have done is change all the fluids regularly and drive it gently. I changed the timing belt at 100K, but other than that, it has never been in the shop for anything. Still has the original brakes. Paint is still in good shape, too. I like the fabric seats. Tons of space in the rear. Easy to clean. Id buy another in a heartbeat, but I dont think this one will ever wear out.

My Review - 2000 Honda CR-V
By nicomp - November 15 - 6:21 amRuns well, always starts, easy to work on, drivers side window motor failed after a few years, otherwise no problems except the A/C compressor self-destructed this summer (2007) and contaminated the entire HVAC system. Dealer wants $3200 to replace everything. I disconnected the drive belt instead. We are seeing much better fuel mileage since then.

Happy CR-V owner - 2000 Honda CR-V
By tapgypsy - March 6 - 11:34 amMy CR-V is now 6 years old and I have been very satisfied with its performance. Routine maintenance is all that has been required, except when I was rear-ended. Thankfully, after a rear bumper and the crumpled exhaust system was replaced, it was fine.

By king james - June 7 - 2:00 ami felt that i shoud give my review of this suv before i traded mine in.Over all its a great ride.just had a few problems.1)i have noticed that when u take a very hard turn such as a u-turn it make a wierd ticking sound like an axel is mess-up but i came to find out its comon in all crvs.It never hampered my driving.2) on long trips i found my feet going numb.well i am a tall guy about 60.i found myself shaking my legs awake while driving.my wife who is few inches shorter never complained about it.but i do most of the driving.3)for a 4cyl its pretty powerfull.

Best Economy SUV - 2000 Honda CR-V
By blick138 - February 6 - 2:00 amThis is an excellent economy SUV with all the features the average person needs. Like any Honda you never have to turn on wrench. They will run forever. This was my 3rd Honda and never had one single repair with over 250,000 miles total.

Transfer case/rear differential problems - 2000 Honda CR-V
By imslikk - January 28 - 2:00 amAt 60,000 miles I am having to replace the transfer case and the rear differential. I am told that the bearings have worn out. The total cost of these repairs is over $3500. I am very dissapointed that the car would need such major work. American Honda has agreed to pay 75%, but it still means almost $700 out of my pocket, not to mention the headache.
