Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

Fun yet practical little car - 1992 Geo Storm
By zvberkov - September 4 - 2:00 amIve owned this car for over a year, and had no troubles other than the alternator breaking once. Just make sure to do the maintenance regularly and you should get many happy miles out of it. I drive it daily in the city and have taken it on long trips. The AC blows as cold as new(I had it professionally serviced with stop leak compounds), and there is plenty of power even on the highway. The car is quite small, and most adults would have trouble with the rear headroom, but the front has more than adequate space. The size is deceiving, its small on the outside but big on the inside. When I moved to a new apartment, I didnt need to hire a van!

i love it! - 1997 Geo Prizm
By Meredith - September 3 - 2:00 amGreat car! Nothing wrong! The only thing is the radio is weak. My brakes grind occasionally, but we just got new ones, so maybe theyre being broken in. (?) Also, its not too powerful, but like someone else said, plain city driving is wonderful. Everyone thats seen me in my new Prizm has told me how cute it is, so thats a plus.

Economic - Not Exquisite - 1997 Geo Metro
By Little Bandita - August 26 - 2:00 amIn terms of achieving my goal, this car has more than met it. I wanted an interim, inexpensive, small, dependable car I could load my keyboard & amp in & out of with relative ease. For 5 years it’s consistently done the job. Tires, hubcaps, & rear axle have been replaced. After the first year () I had no air conditioning because the frion ran out. But the heater works great & the gas hikes haven’t phased me- -I’m still paying less per month than I do for cable TV. It’s a great little car with surprisingly good pick-up, no slowing on hills, easy on the turns, but tough to park without power steering.

Excellent car - 1993 Geo Metro
By Gypsy - August 21 - 2:00 amI bought this car 8 years ago, and it now has over 150,000 miles on it. Replaced tires, radiator, and some exhaust parts that rusted, other than that, it has NEVER failed me. Excellent gas mileage & I have a feeling it will rust out under me before the engine dies. The only thing really cheap about it is the parts in the driver side window that break occasionally (had to fix twice)& the plastic molding on the hatchback (the pins fell out & the plastic piece came off)
