Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

energizer bunny - 1993 Geo Prizm
By girl-dog-car - January 13 - 2:00 amI bought this car when I was in graduate school and for 140,000 miles and 10 years, its been consistently reliable. Every year I waited for problems to give me a good excuse to buy a new car, but it keeps on going! Repairs have been extremely minimal, and only regular maintenance required.

Still Runs Strong After Many Miles - 1992 Geo Prizm
By Many Miles - January 9 - 2:00 amI have had this car for almost two years now. I have had to do some basic tune-up stuff, new brakes, new exhaust, new tires but other than that it just keeps going and going and going. I woud recommend it for anyone for a first car! It started every cold morning in MN. 168,000 miles and still going strong.

Great Car - 1990 Geo Metro
By ragar092369 - January 8 - 2:00 amI bought this car with 65,000 miles and drove it back and forth to work. I got great gas mileage and good performance. I was amazed that a 3 cylinder engine could perform so well. It was very reliable all year round. I only had to replace the tires and the wipers and maybe the fan belt. Other than that it was a wonderful car to have.

piece of junk - 1992 Geo Tracker
By vilsha - December 27 - 2:00 amThe worst car I ever had. Lots of problems, and theyre expensive to fix. I bought it at 56Kmi 1 year ago since then it had: front CV joint replaced ($300) water pump replaced alternator replaced power steering pump replaced (to do that, timing belt should be taken off!) computer replaced ($500) window mechanism replaced hood opening handle broke apart. Two days ago the engine stopped - probably, computer again! Tomorrow it is going to the junk yard, and I feel relief! Several rust holes. The ride is rough. On hwy bumps I hit the ceiling with my head. The engine is very noisy - no overdrive! Gas tank is 10gal, and fuel economy is a disaster - 20MPG!

Gooooo Geo! - 1995 Geo Prizm
By merry 79 - December 27 - 2:00 amI make fun of myself for owning the un- prestigous Geo. However, this car has been worth every penny I paid for it four years ago. I highly recommend this vehicle if you are looking for an economical and reliable vehicle. If youre looking for luxury. . . keep looking.

Kryptonite - 1993 Geo Prizm
By billyjo - December 23 - 2:00 amThese suckers are built to last a minimum of 10 years. I have owned other dependable cars like the original VW bug. But nothing compares to this thing. It just goes and goes. I am now at 210,000 miles. I have been waiting for the muffler to fall off for 5 years. I have been waiting for the AC compressor to fail for 7 years. The only reapirs I have made are: 1 new starter, 3 batteries, tires and oil change every 3500 miles. But in 34 years of driving this is the most amazing car I have ever had.
