Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

Our Metro is Wonderful - 1991 Geo Metro
By datastat - March 21 - 2:00 amWe purchased this as a car to put a lot of miles on. It had 69,000 when we bought it and now has 115,000. We learned to drive a manual transmission on this car and it hasnt even needed a new clutch. The only things weve had to have done (besides general maintenance) is a new exhaust system, the hood release lever replaced, and the hood latch welded. We also had to have it rust protected as it was rusting underneath.

geo metro - 1995 Geo Metro
By carolyn taylor - March 19 - 2:00 amThe Geo Metro is a great car and has provided me with great service for many years. I havent had any probelms with it only the air conditionr switch when i first bought it. I took it back to the dealer at least 3 times before the probems was corrected. About 2 years ago I paid the delaerto fix it agin and now the air is out again. About 2 1/2 months ago I took to the delaer to have my front lights on the driver side fixed. Switch was out completely, okthe than those minor problems I like my car a lot.

The Toyota Legend Continues - 1997 Geo Prizm
By blur - March 18 - 2:00 amI looked for a long time before I found this little guy. Toyotas are legendary for reliability, and I have yet to be disappointed. Zero to sixty? You need a sundial, but who cares. My kids love it because it has a stupendous aftermarket stereo.

An Excellent Commute Car - 1996 Geo Metro
By Harbi - March 13 - 2:00 amI bought it as a commute car after the first day of my new Job which was 35 miles away. I drove my Mercedez ML320 to work and I was shocked when I saw the wear and tear and gas bill. I went and bought this car for mere $2500. It was manual with 57000 miles on it. But since then I drove 25000 miles in just 2 years and I didnt have to take it to any repair shop except the oil change. It is a Great car for commute consistently giving me 42-48 miles per gallon. It has already saved me more than $2500 on my ML320 Gas and $$$ of wear and tear.

a pretty good small car - 1997 Geo Metro
By ncdamsel - March 12 - 2:00 amthe seats in this car killed my back, but other than that it was cheap to keep . so that is allways a good thing cheap tires, low payment, the only complaint was not comfortable to drive on long trips,

These cars rock! - 1993 Geo Metro
By MamamaMetroMan - March 12 - 2:00 amIve put over 200,000 miles on my baby and she starts up everytime. Keep her fluids changed regularly and she keeps purrin like little kitten. Never had any problems in the 10 years Ive owned. Had to have the alternator replaced once, thats it. With gas averaging 2.15 a gallon now in SD,CA, Im saving hundreds just on that. Parking and manuvering in this thing is a sinch. Awesome commuting vehicle. If you have the means, I highly recommend purchasing one.
