Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

great little car - 2 repairs 12 years - 1990 Geo Tracker
By sejennin - September 14 - 2:00 amthis is a great little very reliable car. I have only had 2 major repairs in the 13 years I have had the car. Of course I took care of regular preventive maintenance and that helped. The car sits high enough to see well in trafic. The seats are why I bought it. I am 6 ft tall and the head room is great. The swing open door in the back is more manageable than the swing up type. Loading groceries etc was always easy and very easy to unload. On the highway it is peppy and had good pick up nad go.

Point A to B Guaranteed - 1997 Geo Prizm
By J Locker - September 11 - 2:00 amI have owned this car for 4 year and 60k miles. It has started every time. Only new things were tires, brakes, and oil changes. If you want a boring car, that will get you there every time, and not cost anything in gas or maitenance, this car is for you.

No problems here - 1994 Geo Prizm
By pviterisi - August 28 - 2:00 amI bought this car used at 64,000 miles (after owning a Geo Storm and never having any trouble with that vehicle at 120,000 miles) and have had to do nothing but routine maintenance. Im now at 125,000 and could not ask for a more reliable car. This vehicle really holds up over the long term with little maintenance and a lot of reliability.

Good car - 1993 Geo Prizm
By Jenforyfuss - August 27 - 2:00 amThis was a great car, very reliable and took two rear-endings and one drivers side impact accident in five years and kept going strong. I pushed it with the number of miles I put on for my work, but with normal maintenance it performed very well.

A Useful Machine - 1996 Geo Tracker
By Pioneer62 - August 26 - 2:00 amThis is hardly a flashy vehicle, but it has served faithfully and well since its purchase in 1996.

Dependable - 1993 Geo Prizm
By Greg Robinson - August 23 - 2:00 amThis has been a good car. I have 89000 miles on it and hope to get another. Other than changing a starter at 64000 miles and I just changed the exhaust manifold. I would consider buying another Toyota product {This car is not a Chevy}.

great car! - 1992 Geo Storm
By pacificnw - August 17 - 2:00 amWe bought this car from the original owner 5 years ago with 50,000 miles on it. We have done regular oil changes, replaced front brake pads, and had the belt replaced. It now has 103,000 on it and runs like new. Very quick little car. Extremely reliable. Gets 35 mpg. What more can I say? The back seat is only useful for small children. Also, alot of road noise (forget about having a conversation with anyone in the rear seat!). Otherwise, it has been an excellent car!

My Mini-Lexus - 1994 Geo Prizm
By BF - August 7 - 2:00 amGreat little car. It was the first "new" car I ever bought with 52K miles on it. Ive put 68K on it since the purchase. The handling, creature comforts and overall performance has been outstanding. Negatively speaking, I did have to replace a master cylinder twice, at 65K and 112K, and at 115K the starter and alternator both went out within 2 months of each other, so I decided to have the timing belt replaced when the alternator was replaced. The repair costs were not very expensive. All in all, I am very pleased with this car and plan on driving it for a few more years.

Cool Little Buggy - 1995 Geo Tracker
By Jacob Marley - August 7 - 2:00 amThe most reliable vehicle Ive owned besides my VW Bug. Travels well in all road conditions, but requires two hands on the wheel in a big wind. Rides like a truck at times, but hey, what a hoot to drive in the summer! Fuel economy could be better Ive started giving it premium grade gas and has made a big difference on the highway and as with any car...youve got to change the oil. Im changing mine at every 2500- 3K now. Will probably last well over 200K miles -)
