Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

Good A to B, but watch out @ high mileag - 1994 Geo Metro
By puckeater43609 - March 20 - 2:00 amGreat little car with great gas mileage, but a little imtimidating if taken of the highway (youre no taller than semi-truck tires). Lots of repair/replacement work done @ 100,000 miles and above. Good disposeable car, but dont expect this cool little powered go-cart to last forever!

Prizm - A great value! - 1996 Geo Prizm
By BobPryor - March 15 - 2:00 amI have put almost a quarter of a million miles on my Prizm since buying it new in 1996. other than regular maintenance items I have spent only $500.00 on repairs. I operate this vehicle for less than 12 cents per mile including gas at $1.80/gal. This has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned in over 40 years!

good car - 1994 Geo Prizm
By annie1619 - March 12 - 2:00 amIve really enjoyed this car and have had no major problems with it. Its never stranded me and its run very well. Ive only had to replace the alternator twice. It has a cute look to it and I like how the back seat folds down. I can actually put big things in my little car!

Long Term Owner of Geo Prizm - 1997 Geo Prizm
By rickcollects - March 8 - 2:00 amI bought this car new. The only major item I have had to ever replace was the altenator. Other than that, its been just typical maintenance that any car has(new tires, oil, batteries). Im looking for another one with less miles than mine has now, as I need another car for my daughter and I would really like to own another Geo Prizm.

Long Haul Quality - 1995 Geo Tracker
By JShaffer - March 3 - 2:00 amWow, has this little SUV suprised us. Over 158k miles and no problems. Great gas mileage, 28-30 mpg. Fun on the beach with the top back. With alittle preventive maintenance this is one good vehicle. Just dont expect a quiet ride, or storage for more than two.

Best vehicle ever owned. - 1994 Geo Tracker
By Don and Susan - March 2 - 2:00 amThis little tracker is a trooper!! Weve had it for 10 years and believe it or not...we replaced the brakes AFTER 100,000 + miles. Do you believe it? We ordered it..received it...loved and still do, it. I was coming home from work one day. It was a TERRIBLE snow storm. The roads were covered. Our little tracker brought me home safely in a level 3 emergency. I hope it lasts forever. The Giffs

Best Value for Money - 1994 Geo Prizm
By ordemir - February 29 - 2:00 amI bought this car based on my previous satisfactory experience with Toyota Corollas, on which this car is based. I bought it at 89,000 miles and it now has 139,500 on the odometer. The only expenses I had to make on the car, other than routine maintenance and tune-ups, were brake jobs front and rear. I experienced a cracked door handle and a broken radio knob. Also, the paint on the front end of the hood came off at some spots, and I observed this on several 1994 models. I guess the car needs new shocks. The car is so reliable that I plan to keep it until it turns 200K miles.
