Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

Great Starter car! - 1995 Geo Metro
By borchdp - February 5 - 2:00 amTired of driving a Burb to work at $15 a day in gas, I bought a Metro. First time I filled the tank when it was down to 1/4 full and it only took 6 gallons I couldnt stop smiling! Surprising head and leg room.

Get to know Geo! - 1992 Geo Metro
By geodriver - February 1 - 2:00 amThis was my first car. Ive had great fun driving it and fixing it up. Granted it was in disrepair when I got it, (due to previous owners failure to maintain) Ive had an excellent overall experience with it. One thing about this setup is that its super easy to work on. Everything in the engine compartment is right on top and easily accessible. Ive had it for almost 3 years now and the only drivetrain problems Ive had was with the water pump and starter. Leaks absolutely no oil. Its served me very well over the past few years and I expect it to last for years to come. As Chevy said, Get to know Geo. You wont regret it.

Not that bad, but could be better - 1992 Geo Metro
By cysq - January 27 - 2:00 amThis car is pretty fun to drive. It can be great on gas, but its a noisy bugger. The exhaust goes out every two years or so. Watchout if it is using antifreeze. If that goes out youll overheat the aluminum block, which basically shells the entire car. If you buy one, dont spend ANY MORE than $400, no matter how nice it runs/looks. If theres any problems, automatically drop your original offer price. If they decline, the cars price is way too high.

Great first time car! - 1994 Geo Metro
By peety - January 25 - 2:00 amMy family has had this car for 6 years! Trust me, it has gone through a lot! After being used as a practice car for manual driving by my older sister, it was then passed down to me two years later. This car has helped teach many of my friends and my little brother how to drive clutch. It takes a lickin and keeps on a tickin!

By rarauz - January 24 - 2:00 amVery reliable and fun. The only problem Ive experienced has been with the electrical wiring (battery), otherwise no other repairs. Easily fits 4 adults. Handles great in snow.

Still Runs Strong After Many Miles - 1992 Geo Prizm
By Many Miles - January 9 - 2:00 amI have had this car for almost two years now. I have had to do some basic tune-up stuff, new brakes, new exhaust, new tires but other than that it just keeps going and going and going. I woud recommend it for anyone for a first car! It started every cold morning in MN. 168,000 miles and still going strong.

Great Car - 1990 Geo Metro
By ragar092369 - January 8 - 2:00 amI bought this car with 65,000 miles and drove it back and forth to work. I got great gas mileage and good performance. I was amazed that a 3 cylinder engine could perform so well. It was very reliable all year round. I only had to replace the tires and the wipers and maybe the fan belt. Other than that it was a wonderful car to have.
