Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

Our other car is a Ford... - 1992 Geo Prizm
By Still smiling - November 13 - 2:00 amThis is the only reliable car we have ever owned. We survived owning 2 Chevettes, a Jetta, a Lumina, a Cavalier, a Plymouth Voyager and currently a Ford Windstar. Every one of them had some major defect or annoyance that cost a ton of money to repair. This Prizm owes us nothing.

Most fuel efficient car...ever? - 1992 Geo Metro
By PizPump - October 23 - 2:00 amWonderful little car. I specifically set out to find one of these Metro XFis because of the amazing fuel efficiency (50-55mpg). Actually gets better MPG than the newest hybrids! Not only that, but it actually has a little pep (more than you would think for a tiny 3 cylinder). The car is very spartan, but that should be expected. Its a Metro that has been significantly lightened and all options removed. It is a means of getting from here to there for the least amount of money possible. If youre looking for comfort or performance, then you surely will not be satisfied. It is for frugal misers like myself =D

Good, yet bad Safe, yet still dangerous - 1995 Geo Tracker
By Al1098 - September 17 - 2:00 amThis car is definately a descent car all around. The gas mileage is descent, the car rides pretty well, and it definately has many good points. 2 reasons I would definately never get one again... 1, its very slow. And 2, it is also quite dangerous. It is very easy to flip one of these things, and it sais just that on the sun viser in the car. Its a good car, but just be careful when driving it

great little car - 2 repairs 12 years - 1990 Geo Tracker
By sejennin - September 14 - 2:00 amthis is a great little very reliable car. I have only had 2 major repairs in the 13 years I have had the car. Of course I took care of regular preventive maintenance and that helped. The car sits high enough to see well in trafic. The seats are why I bought it. I am 6 ft tall and the head room is great. The swing open door in the back is more manageable than the swing up type. Loading groceries etc was always easy and very easy to unload. On the highway it is peppy and had good pick up nad go.

Point A to B Guaranteed - 1997 Geo Prizm
By J Locker - September 11 - 2:00 amI have owned this car for 4 year and 60k miles. It has started every time. Only new things were tires, brakes, and oil changes. If you want a boring car, that will get you there every time, and not cost anything in gas or maitenance, this car is for you.
