Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

Love IT!!! - 1990 Geo Prizm
By Steve - April 9 - 8:44 pmA friend gave me this car almost two years ago. It has never let me down. A/C quit for no reason I know of, perfect one day and now nothing happens, may be a fuse or relay. Burns no oil, but has a few leaks. Rides well and is quiet. Original engine, clutch, and transmission at 222,000 miles. Gets 33 to 40 mpg in mixed driving. I love it and hope it never dies. I have had brand new cars I have not liked this much!

love it - 1993 Geo Tracker
By adam.t.miller - April 9 - 7:34 amI have owned a 89 sidekick 4wd and this 93 tracker. I have loved them both! from May until Sep I take the top off (in MN) and drive. only complaint is it can be a handful in strong winds or on winter roads so you must be vigilant. Is most at home on a two lane road or around town cruising. The highway is a little fast for it. My girls love to go for rides with dad with the top down so it gives us good bonding time. I would buy another without reservation and find it a better buy then the Jeep Wrangler and comes without all the problems. It is so easy to work on and simple in its design that it has few problems to deal with.

gas prices bad but not with this car - 1994 Geo Metro
By jimmy - April 8 - 8:06 pmThis car is a great car if you want to get good gas mileage. Mine is a 3 speed automatic and is very easy to work on. If you dont know much about cars this is a good learning tool. pros: great heater, it heats up fast/ good gas mileage/can go on the freeway and get up to speed fast enough. Cons: makes a lot of noise due to lack of insulation/cheap interior/oil leaks/battery drainage/rust in the crevasses of the car/not a very safe car as far as getting hit by another vehicle.

By PRIZMLSI - April 5 - 5:33 pmThe car is great all around, I bought it off of my neighbor after it sat for 2 years, believe it or not all I had to do was put in a new battery and the thing started right up! Runs great. I loved driving the car so much, I got it repainted, 17" chrome rims, factory style spoiler, pinstripe, and new speakers... Still workin on it as of now. Great car, has a lot of pep.

distributor cap or fuel line?? - 1995 Geo Prizm
By robin - March 27 - 9:02 pmIve been dealing with an ongoing problem with my 1995 Geo Prizm that is beginning to make driving no fun! The problem? The car turns over and over, but will not start. Eventually it will turn over and start, and then its o.k for about 3-4 days. Just checking under the hood I saw sparks off the distributor cap. Could this be the problem? Does the distributor cap prevent the car from starting?

Great Car - 1996 Geo Prizm
By Jim - March 25 - 1:27 pmA great car for a beginner, not a lot of power but gets you from here to there safely. Since it was my first car ive beaten it, and it has lasted. I yank up the e-brake, do burnouts, and power shift it and it still runs the same with no problems. Very fun car to mess around in for very cheap. I got the car for 1700 with 137,000 miles on it and now im up to 153000. In this time, ive had 2 flat tires which happens to all cars, an oxygen sensor, and a new belt.
