Overview & Reviews
As the market for import automotive brands became dramatically larger in the late 1980s, the Detroit automobile companies created their own import-style sales divisions. In 1989 General Motors introduced its Geo division, which became the most successful of these attempts before the division was discontinued in 1998.
Geo re-badged various GM cars made for world markets. Its most notable success came with the Geo Prizm, a version of the Toyota Corolla then being built cooperatively in a California assembly plant by Toyota and GM. The Geo Metro compact car began life as the Suzuki Swift, while the Geo Tracker sport-utility vehicle was derived from the Suzuki Sidekick. The Geo Spectrum sedan was an Isuzu I-Mark and the Geo Storm coupe was an Isuzu Impulse.
The experiment ended because the Geo division was unable to establish a stronger identity than the brands from which its products were taken. Moreover, GM quickly realized that Geo was simply funneling its brand loyalists into the import brands of other companies.

The Phatty G-Ride - 1991 Geo Prizm
By The Planet - September 2 - 2:00 amThis is quite possibly the greatest car ever built. It handles like a Porsche, and has the sophistication of a Crown Vic. I will continue to buy these cars for the rest of my life, even if they are now made by Chevy. I do wish that Geo was still around, because there is much pride beaming from the faces of Geo owners when they look at their grill and see that geodesic-esque symbol that sreams, "Hey look at me! I am QUALITY!"

My 2nd Prizm - 1995 Geo Prizm
By 2ND Prizm - August 5 - 2:00 amI bought this car with only 14k on it about a year ago, now it has 25k on it with no major problems. No rust, 1 tiny dent in the bumper, paint looks new like it did in 1995. I just had to replace the battery which wasnt the factory battery that the good one was taken, and a rim was bent but pot holes do that! I love the comfortable seats I travel 500 miles each way to school 2x a year so comfort is a must. The car normally gets 32-37 miles to the gallon! Had a 91 Prizm that started having problems around 70k hope it doesnt happen to this one!

Great Car - 1996 Geo Prizm
By s55amg - June 10 - 2:00 amAlthough it only has 105hp, Ive never had a problem keeping up on the highway theres more than enough passing power. Ive only had a few minor problems with the car since Ive had it and its been running great since. I now have 90,000 miles on it and it still runs like it has 30,000. Alhough it is rated at 26 miles per gallon city driving for the automatic, I regularly get 30-32mpg, never below 29mpg. Being in Hawaii, I do 80% city driving.

Been in the Family for 10 years! - 1994 Geo Tracker
By djh - May 17 - 2:00 amMy sister bought the 94 Tracker, drove it to Florida w/family of 4. Sold it to me in 99. The Tracker has never let me down. It has taken me through the worst winters! My door locks froze, but if you keep it in the garage, or dont lock the doors, its fine. Its been the most dependable vehicle Ive ever owned. Great on gas, easy to maneuver and park. Sold it to my daughter in 03. The vehicle is still in great shape and runs like a charm, even though it just got t-boned by another driver and the Insurance Company says its totaled. Drove it away from the accident! You just cant kill these Trackers!!!

Prizm - A great value! - 1996 Geo Prizm
By BobPryor - March 15 - 2:00 amI have put almost a quarter of a million miles on my Prizm since buying it new in 1996. other than regular maintenance items I have spent only $500.00 on repairs. I operate this vehicle for less than 12 cents per mile including gas at $1.80/gal. This has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned in over 40 years!

good car - 1994 Geo Prizm
By annie1619 - March 12 - 2:00 amIve really enjoyed this car and have had no major problems with it. Its never stranded me and its run very well. Ive only had to replace the alternator twice. It has a cute look to it and I like how the back seat folds down. I can actually put big things in my little car!

Long Term Owner of Geo Prizm - 1997 Geo Prizm
By rickcollects - March 8 - 2:00 amI bought this car new. The only major item I have had to ever replace was the altenator. Other than that, its been just typical maintenance that any car has(new tires, oil, batteries). Im looking for another one with less miles than mine has now, as I need another car for my daughter and I would really like to own another Geo Prizm.
