Overview & Reviews
Three-quarter-ton models equipped with the 8100 V8 get the new 4L85 heavy-duty transmission, while the previous 4L80 version also gets upgraded with more durable internal parts. A more efficient starter and a stronger steering gear housing have also been added to all gas engines along with flexible fuel capability for the 5300 V8.
- Unmatched interior space, strong V8-engine lineup, extensive list of available features.
- Interior fit-and-finish concerns, still too similar to the Chevy Suburban.

Better than I could have ever imagined - 2002 GMC Yukon XL
By BranCat - July 15 - 4:33 amMy husband and I bought our Yukon XL last summer. We have 5 kids and are expecting our 6th in September. We upgraded from a minivan and we were so excited about having what we would call a luxury vehicle to cruise around in. Our vehicle came fully loaded and we just cant say enough about it. We have never had to do any major repairs on it expect for replacing the original alternator just this past month. I love the leather seats and the roominess. We are going to purchase a 4th row for the cargo area to accommodate our growing family. I cant say enough about this vehicle. We are going to drive, drive, drive ours until it falls apart. Even with the gas prices, it is well worth it!

Petes Denali - 2002 GMC Yukon XL
By PeteA - April 10 - 2:00 amVehicle and Dealership second to none. Used to the high customer care given by Acura but this Northern California Tracy GM dealership tops the lot. The Danali smokes other SUVs (added a K&N air filter and Tornado fuel saver for more power and 20% better fuel consumption. Rain or snow in Tahoe, Its the skiers dream vehicle with the most comfortable heated seats I have ever sat in. The autoride suspension enabled me to drive virtully non-stop from Vegas to SF and arrive refreshed. The AWD is noticably better for road holding as evidenced when driving down the grapevine on I5 at high sppeds in high winds (compared to my prior 1994 Suburban)

GMC Yukon XL Review - 2002 GMC Yukon XL
By Gregory Walls - December 27 - 10:03 pmI bought it new and during three years Ive had only one major repair out of warranty (power steering box). After 65,000 miles it still rides great and is in excellent shape inside and out (other than normal minor paint scratches and dings). The build quality is excellent and the car is holding up very well. I have previously traded my car every three years when I get tired of them, but I want to keep my Yukon XL until the wheels fall off.

best suv !!!! - 2002 GMC Yukon XL
By bigjim7070 - August 3 - 10:00 amI looked at the competition and decided on the Yuikon XL Denali. It was the right choice! Handling and parking are a dream. The Bose stereo is the best! The air conditioning can cool down the entire vehicle in a minute. My kids love the rear stereo and heating/cooling controls.

It aint General Motors Crap anymore! - 2002 GMC Yukon XL
By MAGICBUS - February 28 - 10:00 amThis vehicle is perfect for my lifestyle. It has had no more problems than my BMW and the Dealership has been very good. This is my third Yukon! I would definately recommend, but I am tired of seeing so many.
