This Year's Model Updates:

Despite numerous 2003 upgrades, there's not much different on the outside other than optional multifunction mirrors and new machined aluminum wheels for SLT models. Inside, you'll find tri-zone climate controls, an enhanced driver-information center and a redesigned center console and instrument panel. Satellite steering wheel controls are now optional (standard on Denali models) as are second-row captain's chairs. New entertainment options include a Bose audio system, as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, there are a standard front-passenger sensing system, three-point belts for all second-row passengers, adjustable pedals and an available StabiliTrak stability control system. GMC also upgraded the braking system for better pedal feel and performance and retuned the Autotrac four-wheel-drive system for better efficiency and less binding at low speeds. Finally, Yukons sold in California are fitted with a new catalytic converter that earns the truck ULEV certification.

Pros:
  • Strong engines, roomy and versatile interior, rugged chassis, numerous available amenities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, interior materials could be better.

  • Tough Service - 2003 GMC Yukon

One thing Ive learned about owning this vehicle is that its very difficult to repair. I have a strong feeling that the training manual at GMC says "if you cant hear it, nothings wrong." The computer is a little screwy on this truck as well as the overdrive system. Transmission seems to struggle in bumper to bumper traffic. Also, beware the fuel mileage. This vehicle is a gas hog but thats what you do sacrifice for the power. I would recommend the vehicle but be careful about who services it. Very up to date vehicle but not to many up to date mechanics.

  • A Little Worried - 2003 GMC Yukon

I bought this car on 10/11/03. I read all the reviews on here and became skeptical after reading stories about how poorly made these trucks are. The discounts and financing deals on the Denali were too good to pass up so I decided on the Denali. I think I may have made a huge mistake. The car has been in the shop for the past 7 days. It has engine noise coming through the speakers. They say they have figured out the problem, but I truly believe I will be back in the shop again very soon. I highly suggest that anyone who is thinking about buying a SUV to buy a foreign SUV. Did I just make a $50,000 mistake?

  • Think long and hard then....DONT DO IT! - 2003 GMC Yukon

This car has been problems from day 1. It has been a nightmare that just wont go away. I have had so much trouble with car and dealership it is not even funny. Heated seats went out, air conditioner problems, paint chipping from control knobs on front and rear radio-yes that is right painted knobs : ( PLASTIC covers over screws holding seats in place are all coming up, hole in back top of 3rd row seat from bar- poor design. For 45K these vehicles should be made much better. Too much plastic in interior!!

  • Dont buy one!!!!!! - 2003 GMC Yukon

Thisis the worst vehicle I have ever owned BY FAR. It has had mechanical problems from day one. In the last month alone, I have had it in for repairs 5 times. I have had an air conditioning compressor, two ac low pressure valves, freon added, a new rear hatch lock assembly, and a fuse block put in, again, all in the past month. The dealer has jerked me around, and even suggested that I call GM. I attempted to, and was put on hold for over 20 minutes.

  • A wonderful TRUCK not a CAR - 2003 GMC Yukon

Overall a great truck. No real complaints just that the interior is in very bad need of an update. Needs more lux!!!

  • Hansome SUV - but dissapointed - 2003 GMC Yukon

Comfortable, peppy, roomy, turns heads - it was everything I was looking for - sounded perfect. WRONG its the biggest lemon I have ever purchased - dealership cant find whats wrong - electical issues to computer malfunctions - has been replaced, and replaced and replaced - no fix in site. It looks pretty sitting in thier garage.

  • GMC Dealerships are the worst - 2003 GMC Yukon
    By -

My only comment is that you better hope you get one with 0 problems because the dealerships are the worst. I have a Yukon XL and a GMC Sierra and I like the design and power of both vehicles for towing/etc. But, every time something has gone wrong, the dealer cant or wont fix it without a fight. I have honestly bought my last GM car after a lifetime of owning them.
