This Year's Model Updates:

Despite numerous 2003 upgrades, there's not much different on the outside other than optional multifunction mirrors and new machined aluminum wheels for SLT models. Inside, you'll find tri-zone climate controls, an enhanced driver-information center and a redesigned center console and instrument panel. Satellite steering wheel controls are now optional (standard on Denali models) as are second-row captain's chairs. New entertainment options include a Bose audio system, as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, there are a standard front-passenger sensing system, three-point belts for all second-row passengers, adjustable pedals and an available StabiliTrak stability control system. GMC also upgraded the braking system for better pedal feel and performance and retuned the Autotrac four-wheel-drive system for better efficiency and less binding at low speeds. Finally, Yukons sold in California are fitted with a new catalytic converter that earns the truck ULEV certification.

Pros:
  • Strong engines, roomy and versatile interior, rugged chassis, numerous available amenities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, interior materials could be better.

  • Please dont buy this vehicle. - 2003 GMC Yukon

My Denali has malfunctioned from the day I bought it and GMC cant seem to fix the problem. The Stabilitrak works haphazardly and sometimes turns itself off completely. GMC was apparently aware of the problem when I purchased the vehicle, but I was not informed until after I took it in for service. Furthermore, GMC cannot or will not give me an ETA on when they will have a fix for it. Please dont be a sucker like me and purchase a "luxury" vehicle from a manufacturer whose expertise is fleet sales. If you really want one of these vehicles after reading this review, I will gladly sell you mine at a deep discount.

One problem after another with this vehicle. Rear air shock ($800), cat converters ($1500), rear axle seal (? $). This is the second GM SUV we have owned and the previous one had issues as well. Never again! We were simply sick of wondering what the next repair bill would be for this truck. We recently dumped this vehicle for a 2006 Honda Pilot. It our Pilot lives up to the normal reliability Honda provides, our piece of mind is worth the loss we took when trading in the Yukon.

Been in the shop 7 times in a year. Awful vehicle. Awful quality. Problems since day one. Very disappointing. This vehicle is a complete hunk of junk. Front end problems. Transmission problems. Steering problems. Interior plastic is popping off. Seat covers are coming off and coming apart. Paint is chipping off of all knobs.

for the money, this is the worst investment you can make. the interior design is the same in the $30K yukon as the $52K denali, and looks and feels cheap. the denali is bulky, sways significantly with bumps, and the steering is so loose there is not the slightest feel of agility with this vehicle. further, i have had multitude of problems with the headlights not coming on, as well as problems with reduced engine power and stabilitrack. the navigation is cumbersome, and confusing and is not touchscreen (even the nav on the honda accord is touchscreen!)

I cant believe US manufacturing can still not get it. I guess I can now look to the Foreigners for my next vehicle becuase I finally am so dissapointed in GM that I have no choice. The 03 Denali has so many problems in 4,000 miles that I will begin to look at my Lemon Law options. Nice try but no QC.

"The Road to Redemption" The plastic running boards are now standard. The roof rack was standard, only to find the side rails werethe cross pieces were not!!!! The plastic wheel wells do not fit the size of the well opening. Wires did extrude from the turn signals and rear trailer hitch. The seat only reclines a few inches. The console is extremely large. The entire car is bulked up plastic? The interior plastic fits just as poorly and it covers so much empty space? We wont get into gas milage, trailer hitch plugs, window openings, rear view mirrors, light switches, temperature control knobs blocked by the shift lever, back seat space, etc

It makes you feel like you are driving a GM product from the 70s or 80s - JUNK! Big regret buying it - its the right size, pep, looks, ride, etc - but GM cant build a car that last more that a week. Its been in the shop more than I have driven it. Bad choice on my part - shame on GM. Customer Service makes you feel good on the phone - but they dont do anything about the issue. Take it in for service? HA! what a joke - I spent $50,000 on a vehicle and am treated like I purchased it out of the bargain corral! GM needs to learn how to service and stand behind thier products.

Name it it has gone wrong - car has 3,000 miles on it and in the shop about 3,000 hours. Great looking SUV - great power - typical substandard GM quality. Transmission gone, computer went out twice, mount brackets fell off
