Doesnt quit - 1997 GMC Suburban
By Curt - December 31 - 10:26 amMy 97 Burb was without a doubt, the most reliable vehicle that I have ever owend. It is currently at 391,500 kms (Yes you read it correctly) and going strong.I live in Canada and use it for hunting, fishing, and in -35 degree celcius weather. I have no worries about turning the key and making another 1500 km trip without notice or time to prep. Aside from changing the Fuel Pump once (common problem), I have not had any major issues with her. There is no rust on it and the interior is still in great shape without cracks in the dash or holes in the seats. Aside from regular maintenace and fluid changes, the only thing that I had to change was the air freshener. It never quits!

Best SUV of its time. - 1999 GMC Suburban
By Matt - October 15 - 10:13 pmAlright, so this truck is plain great. About a year back we had the head gaskets replaced (175000 miles, currently 185000) and its ready to go for 200000 more! The only problem we have with it is the ABS brakes act up and sometimes the brake pedal pushes back, but its no big deal... just keep the foot pushing back. We used this truck for hauling horse trailers for 8 years, and still use it for vacation. There is plenty of room in the back, and the back seats fold down for even more room. I am 66 and I still have about 2" of headroom left.

Great American made truck - 1998 GMC Suburban
By Imateetoo - July 28 - 9:22 amWe bought this truck used at 60,000 miles and have had very little trouble with it. I wanted something that could pull my horse trailer over mountains with no problem and it more than delivers. The 2500 model / 454hp engine is outstanding! Having the rear A/C is essential with people in the third seat in the summer. We are and will remain a Suburban family! My last Suburban (a 1979) went to almost 300,000 miles on the original engine. GMC certainly does make a GREAT truck!

Best ever - 1990 GMC Suburban
By Sandra - July 27 - 8:06 amI purchased this car new from the factory 19 years ago, have over 200,000 miles on it with only expected repairs, one new transmission. Minimum rust, however paint peeled on this model. Seats nine with bench seats. If the new ones were this good, Id buy one. Gets 14 MPG according to gov. website but I always felt I got more. New ones are only small increase. Love to drive it. Kids loved it... held seven of them! They dont make them like this anymore. Hang on to them as long as possible. Worked well for towing. Size makes curb parking harder but I got used to it. If you can find a good one, buy it!

One of GMs Best - 1997 GMC Suburban
By Mike H - June 24 - 1:29 amThis trucks been in my family for 10 years now, and I just received it from my dad last year around this time. And, at 210,000 miles, it still runs like a dream. This trucks been through hell and back. My older sister destroyed two cars with it, every winter in Michigan, this trucks a toughie. Repairs have been minimal: replaced alternator at 125,000, replaced rear-end at 160,000, one battery, 3 sets of front brakes, distributor cap. The back brakes are the originals that came on the truck 12 years ago, and they still arent worn through. Essentially, from my experience, it doesnt wanna give up. And, atop all that, Im still beating the mileage ratings. That old 5.7 is a strong one.

great suv - 1999 GMC Suburban
By 99GMCsublovr - June 23 - 11:04 amwe have had this car for 3 years now and it still runs great even for being 10 years old. It is comfortable and its one of those cars that holds its style for a long time. I love the steering on this suv, it has a great feel to it and it can steer sharp. We have the 5.7l engine which has penty of power for everyday driving comfort and for saturday fun!! I love the engine sound when you punch the gas, it still sounds great. The ride quality is great on the highway, although at 70mph it seems to shake some, but thats only because we need our tires rotated and allined.

Great Truck - 1999 GMC Suburban
By Dennis - June 18 - 5:00 pmThis is a great truck. For its size it handles and drives well. Good power and acceleration. I bought this truck new. It has been driven every where from the DC beltway to gravel roads (and off road) through every kind of weather from rain, sun, and blizzards. It has hauled kids, dogs, lumber, rocks etc. Always reliable and built like a tank. I have had a couple of accidents with little or no damage and the other car having major damage.

I MISS MY GREAT WHITE 4X4 BOAT!!!. - 1994 GMC Suburban
By Phil. (aka Dr. Phil) - March 16 - 2:24 amThe only thing I regret about my GMC Sub.is selling it. I admit I had some minor problems, but it was just std. ware-n-tire 4 the miles it had. I bought it used with 120k. I rebuilt the trany at 155k, only $800. My last truck was an S-10 Xtra-cab. Great truck, needed more room 4 my 3 children. And boy we where happy! My wife didnt like it at 1st, later she fell n love. Especially after a trip from So.Cal 2 all over Texas. My State. We took our kids and a family member, some portable TVs, munchies, and all our luggage in the back and averaged about 17-18 mpg. And other vacations. Any-1 looking 4 a used GMC with a 350 I highly recommend. I just need a truck now. I hope I fine a good used 1.

GM Engineers were touched by God - 1998 GMC Suburban
By BigRon65 - February 27 - 11:51 amI wouldnt trade this vehicle for anything in the world. Ive raised three kids in this beast and it still runs like a top after 140,00 miles. A steering issue and a water pump are all the problems Ive had with this baby and thats it. A few weeks ago I got T-boned by three full grown deer running across a dimly lit two lane road in the middle of a cold night. They hit me in full stride. My GMC didnt budge! I checked the rear view and the deer were sprawled across the road. Got some damage to my doors and quarter panels but Ive had them fixed and my baby still runs great. Get one and keep it forever.

350,000 Km and still humming - 1996 GMC Suburban
By Bill Milne - February 7 - 12:30 pmPurchased this vehicle coming off lease at 160,000km. Used to pull 24 ft 6000lb Bayliner boat for years and family to cottage and run deliveries for a business. Only problem is 3 replacements of fuel pump. Suggest use full synthetic oil for winter driving for quieter startups. Fuel milage: incredable for SUV this size, 21 MPG on highway and 18 in city. Great family and business vehicle
