Overview & Reviews
The Sierra gets a revised look this year that includes a new front fascia, revised side moldings and an additional wheel design. Top-of-the-line models get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. Inside, the Sierra now offers a Bose stereo system and XM Satellite Radio. The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and GMC has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center, optional satellite steering wheel controls and a dual-zone climate control system. For increased safety, Sierras now feature a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags. All 4.3-liter V6-equipped Sierras and California-emission V8s are now ULEV certified, while electronic throttle control is now standard on all V8 engines. Finally, the Autotrac four-wheel-drive system has been modified for less intrusiveness at low speeds, and the brake system received upgrades that provide better pedal feel and improved overall performance.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Spotty fit-and-finish concerns, low-grade interior materials.

I love this truck! - 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
By Scott - July 9 - 4:16 amI have owned a Ford F150 extended cab and Z71. I was a little leery of this truck because everybody complained about gas mileage. My Z got about 13 and my F150 got about 14. Im getting a solid 13.7 so big whoop. I love this truck performance and comfort. My wife drives a Yukon and gets 17. For the 3 difference Id rather have the quadrasteer and the comfort. Ive put 30,000 on this truck and about to turn 50,000 (bought it used). With GM droping the quadrasteer, I plan on keeping it for some time. The big chrome grille let them know youre comin and the 6.0 lets them know you gone!

The perfect choice - 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
By MTC - January 18 - 10:00 amI had always wanted a full size pickup. This is by far the greatest one out on the market. It rides the best, looks the best, and definitely has the most power. The best decision I ever made.

Beautiful truck but a lemon! - 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
By mondo24 - August 23 - 3:10 amMy 03 Serria Denali is a beautiful truck, but i have had one problem after another. New power steering pump, master cylnder, fuel pump, alternator, 2 starters!, new steering column, lower intake, new front end bearings, and emissions control valve. Now my left blinker turns on my hazards! I give up....give me a new truck!

Why GMC? - 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
By steven - July 28 - 10:16 pmI own a 1993 GMC 2 door SLE and it has performed well over the past 12 years. Its dependable and rides good. This is why I bought another GMC. I find the 2003 to be just as well built and dependable. The 5.3 engine is a good combination of power and smoothness I want in a vehicle, and my mileage runs around 17 mpg. Of course this drops significantly if I jump on it , or drive in the 70/80/mph range.

not a ford - 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
By mattao harrison - September 29 - 10:00 amMy husband always liked Fords. I talked him into test driving a GMC truck, his experience went well. We were both impressed with the way it handled. I have two babys and we feel we have plenty of room and and a good truck. Were excited. Not to mention we looked at a dozen Fords and we found them to be bubbley and tacky. When we saw the GMC on the Ford lot it was the only one and it was an easy decisionafter seeing.

By Juan Rodrigez - August 12 - 10:00 amWhen I bought my sierra i wasnt sure if I would like it. But after Isaw it from the inside I changed my mind about the ford fi50. the GMC Sierra was much more confertable than the f 150 rear seats. that was the reason I bought it.

Even better than the Chevy - 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
By Chris Davis - July 14 - 2:00 amThis is the best truck I have ever owned. This is my first Full Size, but my dad has a silverado. My GMC drives just a little bit better,is a little bit quiter, and the exterior styling is the classiest out of all the trucks in the market. Nobody could talk me out of this truck and into anything else. Eventhough the 2004 Ford interior has a good design, you still couldnt pay me enough to own a FORD. The editor that rated the Sierra lost there mind, it should be alot higher than the low 8s. The only thing I regret is not getting the Z71 pkg.

GMC builds the best trucks! - 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
By Evan - October 4 - 3:56 pmMy first automobile was a 1966 Pontiac LeMans which I still have to this day, but I was in need of a truck to haul more around but still have decent power. The body styling on the GMCs does not jump out at you like the Chevys or Fords etc. I have been extremely pleased with my truck especially in the performance category. After adding a Hypertech power programmer to the truck, the engine output has been amazing. Gas mileage has dropped a bit to about 16/20 but my I dont mind that when I enjoy the performance.
