I am impressed - 2000 GMC Safari
By liveforhim - December 8 - 2:00 amby the power and the fuel economy. I get about 17 city and 22 to 24 highway. I wish it had better visibility in the rear view mirror but the large side view mirrors are a real plus for safe lane changing.

Loving My 3rd Safari! - 2000 GMC Safari
By Pame - December 2 - 2:00 amSince 1992 we have owned 1 used and 2 new Safaris. We are sad that GMC is discontinuing this line as it is everything a mini-van should be. Reliable and very roomy without being a difficult drive.

Two time owner. . . - 2001 GMC Safari
By Vikki - September 24 - 2:00 amWe had a 1991 Safari as our first van and loved it, but only had the SLE. We now have and love the SLT seating and comfort. All the things we wished for in our first Safari van we got in our second Safari van. Now if they would have power door openers for the side and back doors, we would be even more thrilled! We have compared to lots of the SUVs and we like what we have better so far. The milage could be better (and it could be worse too!)

Great ride for outdoor sports - 1995 GMC Safari
By Genius - March 27 - 2:00 amI bought my 1995 Safari just because I could fit my 10-foot surfboard IN the vehicle AND lock the doors under the seats. For a van, its pretty peppy. Rear AC and Dutch doors are cool. Middle and rear seats make the cargo space versatile. My girlfriend complained that the shotgun seat has no foot room. I dont drive from there so, it never bothered me. At 80k miles, fuel injection system died. Spendy ($1k), but worth it. At 116k, the tranny died. The $2k to replace it just wasnt worth it, had to trade it in.

Snow Surfin Safari - 1991 GMC Safari
By miluch - January 28 - 2:00 amThis vehicle has 210,000 miles and never misses a lick. All major componants are original, no oil consumption, use it to tow regularly, and... it is just awesome in the snow and on ice slick roads.

Safari Vans vs. the minivan market - 1998 GMC Safari
By rufrider - January 6 - 2:00 amWe have had few problems with this van, and it is our second of this style. We have also owned a Toyota minivan, a Chevy Regency, and SUVs. The interior room is its greatest advantage. In comparison with the other minivans on the market, it has more leg and head room. The large area behind the rear seat holds suitcases and ice chests enough for a family for a 2 week vacation (keeping these things out of the seating area). We had this advantage with a full size van but had to deal with difficulty parking in small spaces, and gas mileage. For the most efficiency for the greatest amount of space, well choose Safari again.

good ride - 2002 GMC Safari
By emald - December 14 - 2:00 am2002 gmc safari has been a fine vehicle for my family. We have had zero problems with it. Here in Alaska the AWD and Anti lock brakes have been just the thing. With studed tires on it just wont be stopped.

GMC 1993 Review - 1993 GMC Safari
By Mike Welsh - December 6 - 2:00 amThis van has about 80% highway miles. There have been no major problems encountered just nuisance ones. We did have the left-front ABS fail on a trip and caused the normal brake system to fail. The ABS sensor cable to the LF wheel broke and ONLY the ABS worked. This was really scary when you hit the brakes and all you got was the ABS sound and response. I asked GM about this and never received an answer. The BOSE CD system had be to replaced ata cost of $300. Talking to other Safari owners it seems the radio/CD unit is to close to the heating ducts.
