My Jimmy has been a great SUV to date. I have used the roomy storage for both work and play (moved several times, outdoor activities, etc). The seats fold down easily to provide flat loading area. Although the 2DR can be an obsticle to some, I still prefer it over smaller 4dr SUVs like a Jeep-- much more leg room in back! AC, brakes, and 4WD have been problamatic at times. Spare tire on rear has increased cost of rear-end accidents and burdensome over time. Interior and comfort features have maintained well over time.

Bought it 2 years old. Brake power compressor fails. Seat levers for tilt break- off), first the passenger side, then the driver, $750 to repair each, because of configuration. Driver door hinge bends and cracks, cant repair without major body work (thousands $$$), door doesnt shut, electronic mirrors dont work, driver side wet in hurricanes, bad rain storms. Dash board fell (scary, but easy to fix). Body integrity poor, scratches very easily. Constant minor repairs, and replacements, windshield wiper motors, batteries, starter. Often smells of gasoline. Noisy, sounds like big TRUCK. And now the driver seat squeaks (minor, I know).

I bought it to celebrate a promotion. It has let me down once when the front right wheel literally fell off. The bearings exploded. Luckily I was not going fast. It has been fun and after all these years I am going to sell it. I would buy it again if still in production. Alas GMC created the Ewnvoy. I cannot justify the increase of 14K for the same vehicle revamped. I have been lucky but thats the way it is. Someone has to from time to time. I am looking at a 1 year old SUV from Nissan or brand new Mitsubishi. They both seem good value and hopefully will live up to my Jimmy. I will miss her.

Absolutely the worst car I have ever owned. I have replaced transmisson, brake booster, altenator, master cylinder,A/C compressor, rear sway bar parts, front sway bar parts, radio, several plastic parts, rear main seal, still doesnt stop well brakes very mushie. Just a poorly built car most unreliable for the mileage driven. Envoy cant be much better. Would never buy another GMC SUV.

I purchased this vehicle used with approx 85K miles on it in 5/01 in VG cond. Since the purchase I have replaced only normal maintanence items such as tires, brakes, muffler which the vehicle needed when purchased anyways. Overall the vehicle has been very dependable and has needed nothing replaced other than the previous mentioned items even with 127K miles on it!

At first, this vehicle seemed great while it was under warranty - solid ride, not too many unwanted noises, good performance. After the warranty was gone, major expensive repairs started: Front Wheel bearings @ $550 each (a very common problem that GMC continues to ignore), 4-wheel drive encoder motor at $750, throttle position sensor at $150. I cant afford the repairs while Im still making the monthly payments, and the vehicle only has 38K miles. GMC just wants to survive the warranty period, and then lets the consumer bear the costly repairs. Ill never buy another GMC product again.

I bought this new in 99. Loved it both on and off road. Did all regular maintenaince (tune ups, oil changes) at regular intervals. Brakes and rotors finally needed to be replaced at 70k miles. One of the front calipers failed 3 days after the brakes were done but I think the mechanics had something to do with that. Ball joints needed to be replaced last week at 76k miles. Battery needs to be replaced as of tonight. Other than those items this car has been rock solid! Still drives like a champ. Was going to buy the new VW Toureg but cant justify getting rid of this yet.

Ive owned this beauty since she was a baby. Perfect condition and only had minor problems. Rides smooth and fun to drive. On Colorado terrain, you feel safe with its stong 4WD system.
