  • Its been good... few flaws - 2000 GMC Jimmy
    By -

I purchased my Jimmy brand new, and have enjoyed it so far. The leather seats are super comfortable, and it has a good ride. So far, most things have worked. The defects Ive experienced are the battery and the turn signal switch. The factory battery was defective, and to make a long story short, Im on my third battery!! Acid leaked out of the other two. I cant really blame Jimmy for that... After 91,000 miles, my turn signal switch has gone out (I think) there is a blinking noise eventhough the blinkers arent on.

  • GMCs stink - 1996 GMC Jimmy
    By -

Many electrical problems with this since purchase, wipers, lights, radio, mirrors, interior light/door switch, etc. Got them fixed. Weak drivers side door hinge, O2 sensors go bad frequently, never received letter about ball joint recall and paid out of pocket instead. AC has had problems, fan switch....must I go on? Buy a Toyota, Nissan or Isuzu instead and save yourself some headaches. GMC needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.

  • Love my Jimmy - 1998 GMC Jimmy
    By -

I had purchased my Jimmy with 80000 miles on it and have put 13000 more on it since purchase and have loved all of them. My wife and I have taken out camping, gone out of town and just plain drove the crap out of it. The 4wd works great and pulled out plenty of fords with it. Overall its the best vechicle I have ever owned.

  • The Jimmy - 1996 GMC Jimmy

We were not very pleased with this vehicle. It was not reliable at all and we had to do a lot of repairs at very inconvenient times, like the side of the road. We felt it was a poorly made SUV.

  • Nice truck but gettin up there in age - 1993 GMC Jimmy
    By -

This little truck is so much fun I only wish it didnt cost so much to maintain it, as it gets older the 165k miles start to take their toll. But its still a great truck, that vortec v6 really packs a punch. The ride quality is bouncy, unrully, heavy, loosey-goosey, and a blast! Sadly the electrical problems, oil leaks, various other leaks, suspension problems, and generaly just wearing out are forcing me to replace it. If i had the money or was a master mechanic, I would keep it just for fun.

  • Great Mid Sized SUV - 1999 GMC Jimmy
    By -

I bought mine recently from a private seller that maintained it well. Since Ive own it, Ive put it through the paces, four wheeling, highway cruising, local traffic, this truck does it all. The comfort is great for this size truck after all its not a Mercedes. Its more than I expected , since my other vehicle is a 2004 Chevy Tahoe.

  • The Worst Car I Have Ever owned - 1998 GMC Jimmy
    By -

One month after purchase the front transmission decided to engage at 75 mph on the interstate. That was a $1200 computer chip replacement. 2 weeks later the brakes completely went out with no explanation from the dealer, $650. 7 months later the ingition lock went out, $300. 1 Year after having the front transmission fixed, it broke again and will engage by itself. Currently the rear window wiper motor has gone out, the ABS light is always on, the windshield wipers have a mind of their own and will stop after being on for ten minutes and take a break, or will continue to run after you turn them off. I wish I had more room to continue. This has been the worst car I have ever owned and will be the last GMC.

  • The SUV that can live up to my standards - 1996 GMC Jimmy
    By -

I bought this SUV when I was 17 because I wanted a reliable vehicle. It turns out i made a good decision. It has stood up to the unusual abuse of me driving it. I have taken it offroad and abused it got it buried in mud and had to be pulled out. The only parts that have broken have been caused from my abuse which was a transaxle boot and a bent ABS sensor. I have driven 33,000 miles with my foot to the floor and have experienced only routine tune ups. If it can handle me, it is extremley reliable.

  • "Love my Jimmy" - 1998 GMC Jimmy
    By -

A good vehicle. It runs smooth, and gets good highway gas mileage. Not great in town. I want another "JIMMY" SLT but I dont see a "Jimmy" on the market. Humm? What to buy next? Maybe Ill just have the engine rebuilt someday on this one.

  • Love It! - 2000 GMC Jimmy
    By -

A great SUV! I bought it 2 years ago, and never had a major problem with it. I drive it a lot. It now has 87,000 miles on it and it still runs great. The only things that have gone wrong are the back window had to be replaced (seal was broken) and I just had to replace the battery. The drivers door sqeaks a little and I wish the fuel tank was bigger. All in all, its been a great running, comfortable vehicle for me and my family.
