Overview & Reviews
For 2003, Envoy buyers are able to order certain options individually, rather than as part of an equipment package, adding potential savings and increased flexibility. The sport-ute's already powerful Vortec 4.2-liter inline six also gets a slight bump in horsepower, up from 270 to 275, and Envoys now boast a new four-position headlamp switch that permits drivers to turn off the vehicle's daytime running lamps and automatic headlamps when necessary. Additionally, the Envoy gets a larger fuel tank that holds 22 gallons. Previously standard side airbags are now optional, while autodimming side mirrors and the rear seat overhead compartment have been deleted.
- Plenty of cool options, strong six-cylinder power, attractive interior design.
- Numb steering, plasticky interior pieces, feels tippy in the twisties.

Electronic Nightmare - 2003 GMC Envoy
By Terry Jackson - September 6 - 11:25 pmThe vehicle has been one electrical problem after another. I have had two starter ignition switches replaced, the starter, two batteries, the ACcontrol panel driverside thermostat is bad. Theres aclicking sound under the dashboard (have yet to troubleshoot that as well as a clicking sound on the right aft side of the truck when I turn the defrost on. This is the worst vehicle I have ever own and I swear I will never buy GMC again. The interior is cheaply put together rattles far too much and the interior lighting is poor lit.

SERVICE 4WD LIGHT ON FOR FOURTH TIME! - 2003 GMC Envoy
By clovermg - March 27 - 2:00 amMy 03 Envoys SERVICE 4WD light came on the 1st time at 574 MILES, 2nd time at 4242 MILES, 3rd time at 6490 MILES & 4th time at 9387 MILES. Its had 3 IGNITION SWITCHES in 1 WEEK & Ive only had it 9 mos. I contacted GM about this & was told about a repurchase then told no but never told why. The area rep doesnt have to give a reason why, he doesnt have to call me when Ive asked for him to & they wont give me his info. I told GM this was "UNEXCEPTABLE" and asked to speak with a supervisor & the supervisor HUNG UP ON ME! GM NEEDS TO GET THE ENVOYS ACT TOGETHER! I will NEVER buy GM again! Im on to NY state lemon law now. WISH ME LUCK!

Im not sure about this one... - 2003 GMC Envoy
By ZeeGee - February 17 - 2:00 amI really wanted to like this truck. The size was right, I liked the I-6 engine config and it seemed as though GM had turned the corner on the quality and design of their products...but it appears they havent. Get the car up to speed (btw, it seemed as if it had 170hp not 270) make a pseudo evasive maneuver and the Envoy falls all over itself, it actually swam side to side when I test drove it! Far worse than the larger Tahoe or Suburban in fact. The brakes are mushy and the small 2nd row seats giggles like a kids amusement toy. The salesman told me they were really discounting this car and now I know why. Too bad.

BEWARE - 2003 GMC Envoy
By finnj - June 24 - 10:00 amI have a 2002 GMC Envoy. The vehicle has been brought into the shop 4 times so far for a loud engine noise issue. They can not fix it. The vehicle is terrible on gas as well. Can not recommend this car..it looks nice, but does not perform well and GM can not seem to fix problems they know exist.
