Overview & Reviews
The Windstar now has standard power-adjustable pedals and an optional rear-seat video entertainment center. There's also a new trim level called the Limited. Available midyear 2000, it will contain more standard features than the previously top-line SEL.
- Top-flight safety equipment and ratings, plenty of interior features and options, sonar backup warning system.
- Floaty ride, restricted legroom for second- and third-row passengers, noisy engine.

Next van will not be a Ford. - 2000 Ford Windstar
By payton - February 1 - 1:02 amOnly reason for buying van was the low price I aquired it for & having 3 children. All kinds of things were replaced under warranty (previous owner). At 40,000 miles a valve spring broke! As of now, 5 yrs old engine light showing, rear side defroster not working, driver door lock not working electrically, passenger sliding door rattles & paint peeling! Glad I didnt purchase it new. Wish I had not of purchased it at all.

Ford doesnt back up product - 2000 Ford Windstar
By gregvicwill - January 24 - 2:00 amThis is our second(and last) Windstar minivan. Our vehicle has been plagued by a pervasive and enigmatic problem involving the complicated traction control and theft deterrent system. This problem causes the vehicle to fail to start up at random intervals leaving us stranded. Ford seems helpless to find or fix this problem despite over a month total time in the shop since purchase. Two Ford engineers have examined the vehicle, each in turn declared that the problem was found, reproduced and repaired, however the problem continues to this day. Trade in day! and not on a Ford product.

By two4x4s - November 5 - 2:00 amTransmisson is awful, makes loud noise when you put it in gear and will roll a foot after you put it in gear and ford says it is fine. would be a great van but not worth the risk

Another unhappy owner - 2000 Ford Windstar
By Jimohio - November 2 - 2:00 amBought this because of the safety issues, great dealership and good price. However, this has turned out to be one of the worst cars I have owned. It was in the shop so much that I started to wait on the minor things so that I could get several things fixed with one trip. It started with the power window controls, twice on the drivers side and once on the passenger side being replaced. Then came rotors, (3 sets), air conditioning controls, new transmission, new intake manifold, new tie rod ends, leak in the rear floor seat mounts, tailgate pistons, power steering pump. The interior lights and seat belt chime come on at will, muffler hanger and others.

DONT BOTHER WITH THE FORD - 2000 Ford Windstar
By rick welliver - August 2 - 2:00 amDont even bother looking. We have had countless recalls. Had to fix something at 38k right after warranty expired, dealership met us 1/2 way on a 900.00 bill. Squeeks everywhere, door leaks.. Car rolls SIGNIFICANLTY after it is placed in park DANGEROUS... ALso groans and moans when you turnt he wheel. I am told it might have a crack in the manifold, WHICH IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I will never buy another Ford again.

Very Disapointed - 2000 Ford Windstar
By Cosgrove - May 11 - 2:00 amPurchased the car because we liked the styling, safety and size. Went for a loaded SEL because we planned to pay it off and keep it for 8-10 years. Suddenly, with 55k miles, the car just stops. It will only go into reverse. We have it towed to the shop and find out we need a new transmission for $2500! Looking through the internet I find dozens of people that have had the exact same problem. How Ford can state or even imply that they build quality vehicles is beyond me, this will be the very last Ford product I ever purchase. I want my money back!

Windstar - 2000 Ford Windstar
By Jeff G - March 29 - 2:00 amBought it 3 yrs ago, vehicle was a year old with 15,000 miles.Beutiful van seemed to be a bargain at $17,700.Now it,s barely worth anything with 45,000 miles, the tranny clunks like it may fall out at any time.Front end alignment is needed every 3-4 months, alot of vibration in steering upon interstate driving. Also luggage rack paint falling off.We are tring despertly to get it traded in so I dont have to try and sell it myself.I am afraid I would give it away!

No More Windstars - 2000 Ford Windstar
By DJL - January 18 - 2:00 amWe had many problems with the automatic rear sliding doors not closing all the way. Too noisy when driving on the highway. Gas mileage is poor. Resale value is terrible.

piece of crap - 2000 Ford Windstar
By gtw - November 14 - 2:00 amPaint is chipping off the corners of the roof. Paint is cracking on top of roof where the roof ditch is located on the left and right side of roof. Luggage rack has black coating flaking off. Van keeps rolling after you put in park. Car is just over 3 years old and I certainly do not expect to have paint problems. DO NOT BUY ONE!!!

A mistake I bought it - 2000 Ford Windstar
By phlbill - October 27 - 2:00 amI bought my Windstar in April 2000. After a couple of weeks I knew it was a mistake. The drivers seat position is uncomfortable. There is no place to put your left foot while driving except on the hump for the front wheel. Gas milage is terrible. It strugles to get 20 mpg on the highway and 14 mpg in a mix of urban highway and city driving. Gas milage is almost as bad as a 68 Caddy I once had. But that had a 7.7 liter engine vs the Windstars 3.8. It has been for the most part a car that starts and gets me where I am going. I should bought a F150 Super Crew or a Caravan
