  • A great first car - 1993 Ford Thunderbird

I got it from a friend for $500. It had previously been used off-roading. The AC didnt work, there was a power-steering leak, and the odometer had broken at 125k miles before he owned it. We guesstimated around 180k miles, give or take. I can tell you, I didnt expect much. I was pleasantly surprised. The car ran great, never had any problems starting or overheating. I drove it for 3 years before a bearing went bad and I failed to get it fixed, leading to brake problems. Otherwise it was completely reliable and very fun to drive. Itll treat you right as long as you treat it right (regular oil changes/general maintenance). A great first car. Ill miss you, Thundy!

  • I cried - 1993 Ford Thunderbird

I loved my 1993 Ford Thunderbird LX. It had a V6 3.8L, which ran pretty well and fast for the weight, though I felt the engine was underpowered ( but still had enough to satisfy me. ). I took a turn going 30mph and hit a pole, because my wheels locked up and I didnt have time to pump my brakes, and it totalled my car. I cried that night...I loved this car...and now Im looking at a 1994 Thunderbird LX for 1,995.

Great car! Very fun to drive, but a little pricy to fix if you cant work on it yourself. I suggest joining a local club (like SCCoIA.org) and take advantage of group discounts and owner knowledge base.

I bought this car only because it was cheap and I needed a transport. Having owned a few muscle cars, I didnt expect much. I was wrong. The 5.0 had more power than I expected and Ive had a lot of fun driving. Its a great mix of power and luxury.

I love this car.I have owned this car sence 1997 with 47000 miles on it.I have the 5.0 V8 and Enjoy driving this car tremindously. Small problems here and there, until recantly nothing major. The heater core and transmisson just went and I like the car enough to put $2000 into it.

  • 93 Thunderbird V-6 - 1993 Ford Thunderbird
    By -

In the 30 months that I have had this car, I have changed one power window motor. Asides from that this 10 year old baby has not required any attention. The factory paint has held up to our Florida sun and the interior has done the same with out tints. It is fun to drive in the sense of its handling. I would have given a higher fun rating had the V-6 had some more power. The fuel economy is pretty good for a car that size. Sadly someone ran a stop sign and the ins. company is declaring it a total loss. Still it is a very solid car. The ins. company says it has frame damage but when I drove over the weekend it drove straight. Ill miss this car very much.
