Ford Does it Again - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By Bruce - October 15 - 12:33 pmThis is a real nice car but everyone should be aware of the 4.6L V8 issue that is not only common, but will likely cost you a lot of money. There was a recall with an extended warranty, after a lawsuit, which expired 7 years after original sale of vehicle. So, if you are not the original owner it is likely you never heard of it. Some genius designed the intake manifold out of plastic, including the coolant crossover. It will crack! You will then have a coolant leak requiring replacement of the manifold. Today that cost is around $800 to $1000 depending on where you go. I will be doing it myself for the cost of parts, which will be between $250 and $300. Do plugs while everything is open.

silverbird - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By silverbird - August 28 - 8:22 pm4 years ago I needed a second car to keep from putting too many miles on my Expedition. I bought my 96 ford thunderbird used with only 30,000 miles on it. It has been very reliable and is very comfortable to drive.Best used car I have ever owned. The 4.6 V8 gets great gas mileage, it rides smooth and still looks great. I am totally sold on Ford products now and look forward to owning many more in the future.

An all American bird. - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By WhartD - October 10 - 7:47 pmI love this car I have owned it for almost a year now and I never get tired of looking at it. This car is fast and is extremely fun to drive. I actually look forward to rainy days so I can power slide to my hearts content. Handling isnt too bad for a big American car. This is one awesome cruiser. Mine is fully loaded and I love just driving around with the windows down and the sunroof wide open. The saddle brown leather and interior is great except for a few minor build issues which I put in the improvements part. Nice premium sound system. It has a lot or bass and the speakers work perfect. My razzi body kit looks great on it in white. Mine is all stock from 1996. $22grand in 1996.

Highway rollin - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By Joel Dillon - February 23 - 8:08 pmThe Thunderbird is a true American made car. The engine sounds great when accelerating, which is why adding 2 Flowmaster mufflers was easy to do. The Thunderbird is not like anything on the road today. The car is sharp around corners and when you put your foot to the floor, watch out.

10 year T-bird anniversary - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By rsu11 - August 1 - 11:52 amJust gave my 10 year old T-bird a makeover - new paint and carpet. Why? Simple. The car deserves it! Why pop for a newer car, or an older classic, when this one fills the bill so admirably. Great performance with the 4.6 V8, good suspension with IRS in the back, decent brakes, a comfortable interior for two people and styling that still looks good. Low maintenance costs and 19 mpg around town just make me smile more behind the wheel. The retro styled Mustang will probably be my next car, but not until my T-bird dies, probably many years from now. This car is like finding an Armani suit at a yard sale. A bargain with style!

Red Bird - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By Red Bird - March 12 - 12:31 amIts the mix of a Crown Vic and a Mustang. Great car for highway use and road trips. However its not so good around town in the city due to its size and rather poor city mileage. Its stuck in that not so great niche between sports car and luxury car. Having bought it used with 82k, it has been a great bargain of a car! Its far better than I had expected from a 9 year old Ford!

Kurts T-Bird - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By Kurt B. - October 2 - 2:00 amMy T-Bird has never let me down. After 8 years, it still runs very strong. Initial problems included a defective CD player and incorrect factory front end wheel alignment. Nothing since then. It has strong acceleration and can light up the tires easily. A good balance of luxury and performance. In the Arizona heat, cooling system and AC have performed flawlessly. The car looks great, too! Excellant fit and finish of car body.

1996 Ford Thunderbird - 1996 Ford Thunderbird
By TopJimmy - January 18 - 2:00 amI bought my Thunderbird used 4 years ago. It has been a great car and has only left me stranded once when the manifold cracked and I lost coolant. There was a TSB on that problem and Ford fixed it free of charge ( an $800 repair )It is fun to drive and has plenty of power. The 4.6 V8 is quite economical and there is a feeling of safety with this vehicle.
