I took delivery of the car on October 15th abd drove it from Seattle to Palm Springs and back. The ride is very smooth and the seats are very comfortable. This is truly a luxury car like ride . The average mileage I got was 20.5 miles p/gallon on regular gas. We were 2 persons with 4 suitcases plus misc. items such as an icebox ,golf clubs etc. The accelleration in the mountains was very good and I left it on cruise at 70 miles when possible. I like the variable transmission a lot and you do not notice any hesitation at all, and it operates in such a smooth way. Before I bought the car I drove the Lexus RX 330, Volvo CX 70, Cadillac SRX and the Ford gave me the best value for the money.

This is an excellent car, SUV, or a crossover as they say. Lots of power due to the CVT transmission, ALWAYS tons of power when you need it. Tires are awful. It needs better traction in snow ( took it to Vermont ), but the traction control works like a dream! It is so smooth and quiet on the highway though.

The design of this vehicle is outstanding. There is plenty of room for people and luggage with comfort. The leather seats are extremely comfortable with a multitude of settings for the front row. The all wheel drive gives me as good gas mileage as I got in my Odyssey wagon and much better than my Mountaineer with added safety, security and comfort. So far, no problems whatsoever!

  • Nothing but problems - 2005 Ford Freestyle

I Purchased my Freestyle on 17 November, and to date Ive been able to drive for ~24 days! The rest of the time itÂ’s been either in for repairs or waiting for parts to be "pulled off the line". So far Ive had the front wheel bearings replaced (@ 600 miles), transmission replaced (@ 900 miles), and the car still makes horrible grinding and/or clicking noises when cornering and breaking. Worst yet, when braking in turns this car occasionally pulls wildly to the right. Great job on styling, terrible job on reliability and ability to diagnose and fix problems. Not what I expected for $35K, Ford can keep my Freestyle. Hopefully I got one of a few lemons!

I HAVE PUT 7000 MILES ON MY AWD SEL INCLUDING A TRIP FROM FROM OHIO TO FLORIDA. THE ENGINE WAS ADEQUATE FOR THE MOUNTAINS OF WV AND THE MILEAGE WAS EXCELLENT. I TRADED IN A 2004 GMC ENVOY BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE AND FOR THE FLAT FLOOR. IT IS A GREAT CAR

  • Glad I Made the Change - 2005 Ford Freestyle

I went from driving a FORD Expedition to driving the Freestyle. It has been a great change. I feel like Im driving a car again with the safety I have come to expect from the SUV. The car handles great in the snow and rain. I love the fold down quick and easy seats. The kids love the DVD player and sunroof. I have been asked many times about my car and have told everyone I would buy it again. If you are looking for a good and relatively inexpensive family car, go check out the Freestyle.

Have 1200 miles on the car. Getting good gas mileage up to 24.5 mpg so far. That was on the expressway for 200 miles. Has a good ride and good feel. Lots of room for storage if needed. Seats fold down in a flash. Ive had a Village Sport for five years and hated to give it up, but am really liking the Freestyle. Not quite as wide as the Villager. Feels a little more like an SUV than the Village but has a more car like ride than an SUV. Seems to have enough pick-up for me. LIke the transmission with no feel of shifting.

A very sharp vehicle with interior design that was very well thought out. Ford has finally got a clue on customer satisfaction. I would encourage everyone to try the new Freestyle.

  • Ford gets it right - 2005 Ford Freestyle

Finally, a Ford interior thats attractive. Friends couldnt believe we bought a Ford, but once they see it, they understand why. Yes, it could be a bit more powerful, but the negative reviews regarding this aspect are overdone. What about the great gas mileage this cross-over gets with gas prices where they are? Looked at Cadillac SRX, Acura MDX and Lexus, and no question this is the best value - better gas mileage, more spacious, thousands cheaper. The Limited is loaded with luxurious features and the third row wins hands down relative to competitors. Safety features and ratings excellent as well. Glad to see the company utilizing technology from its luxury brands. Keep up the good work Ford!

We bought this Freestyle Limited the first week they came out and could not be happier. With 2 toddlers, the full canopy air bag safety features, AWD, and the DVD player are just what we needed to make trips more enjoyable. As a Pro Cyclist, my race bikes travel in style on top of my Freestyle when equipped with a Thule Bike Rack that uses the factory Ford roof rails. It not only looks like a Euro car, it drives and handles like one as well. 2 thumbs up to Ford and Volvo for collaborating on this excellent design.
