  • Am I the only one with a problem? - 2005 Ford Freestyle
    By -

The Ford Freestyle has given me nothing but grief beginning 2 weeks after the purchase of my car. I have already had the transmission and electrical wiring replaced within 1 month of the purchase of my vehicle. The car doors dont shut properly, many time the car wont start, or will shut off when placed in gear shortly after start up. Car constantly hesitates. Grinding noises when I cut the wheel.

  • Gas Mileage - 2005 Ford Freestyle

Good concept, but doesnt live up to my expectations. Gas mileage around town is 14-15 mpg, not much better that the 12 mpg I was getting from my 5.4 Expedition.

  • 20000 miles & perfect - 2005 Ford Freestyle

Leased an early 2005, Jan 2005. Now have 20,000 miles. Car has been perfect. Only recall was the gas tank straps. Extended trip this spring from N MI to S FL resulted in an average mileage of 25 mpg driving 75 mph average. We get 20 mpg in town like clockwork. CVT has worked like a charm. AWD is awesome in the winter, as good or better than my 4x4 F150 Lariat. We will be leasing another in Jan 07. The dealers cant find used ones. No one is letting this car go.

  • LOVE IT, LOVE IT! - 2005 Ford Freestyle

I love my Freestyle! The ride is outstanding, the interior is comfortable and well thought out and the exterior design is awesome. I am very impressed by Fords new vehicle and am happy I decided to purchase one. Gas mileage has been excellent so far and I totally enjoy driving it every chance I get. It handles very well in snow & on wet surfaces; I feel confident driving my car ~I have no reservations about driving long distances, in both good & bad weather conditions. There is plenty of room for whatever Im carrying & the fold down seats are a nice change from my van. I love everything about the Freestyle & look forward to many years of happy driving. I get tons of compliments on my new car

  • Great vehicle - 2005 Ford Freestyle

I have leased the Freestyle for 2 years and have really enjoyed it and had few problems - even though we leased it in its first year of production. Im considering getting a second one. My husband, who likes Cadillac comfort, even likes the ride - and he hates SUVs. He thinks it is a solid/safe ride. Our elderly parents who are not in the best of health have been transported easily and comfortably. The height of the seat is just right for easy entrance and exit for them. No hopping up into the seat. And transporting walkers and wheelchairs was no problem. I recommend the Freestyle to anyone who asks about it.

  • Freestyle Is In Style! - 2005 Ford Freestyle

I was originally going to purchase a Pacifica, but after test driving the Freestyle, I knew I had to stick with Ford (I was purchasing a replacement for my Windstar). The drive is comfortable, the inside is roomy and you can fit adults in the 3rd row - no problem. Plus the seats fold down with ease. Power is more than sufficient, it could probably benefit from some more horsepower - but no complaints here.

  • Pleasant Suprise - 2005 Ford Freestyle

I was planning on buying a Cadillac SRX. A friend told me about the Freestyle (havent seen many out there and Ford hasnt really advertised the vehicle?). LOVE THIS CAR!. Saved $20,000 from the SRX. Great room in all 3 rows, very nice handling and CVT is very smooth. Ford really should start advertising this car cause its a great all purpose family car ... better than my previous SUVs and as functional as a minivan without the stigma.

  • Freestyle Hits the Mark - 2005 Ford Freestyle

Our kids are now as big as us! We needed a car (not a van) that would fit all of us and occasionally more. We traded in a large 4-Door Chevy pickup that had plenty of room, but the V-8 was gobbling up more than the kids and it REALLY rode like a truck (well, duh!). We bought the AWD Limited with everything on it. All the automotive reviews moan about how underpowered the Freestyle is, but I can tell you it has plenty of power, especially in the 50- 70 passing range, when you really need it. The CVT tranny is incredibly smooth and the AWD keeps you glued to the road. I dont know if any car can truly be all-purpose, but this comes close. For those who want more acceleration - Buy a Mustang GT

  • handling - 2005 Ford Freestyle

This is a very stylish vehicle and everywhere I go people comment on the style and the lines of the vehicle. However, as good looking that the vehicle is, the handling characteristics are awful. On the highway, this vehicle just drifts from side to side and if youre not careful and look away from the road, you could find yourself drifting into another lane as fast as you can blink. When you correct for the drifting, it then overcompensates and you find yourself drifting in the opposite direction. Trying to keep this vehicle on the road in a straight direction for just a few seconds or so, is almost impossible.

  • My favorite car - 2005 Ford Freestyle
    By -

I studied this car for 8 months. The style caught my eye, its sleek and much larger inside than it appears to be outside. I had an Explorer and was tired of the low gas mileage and slowing down through curves on the expressway. Yes, I know it was a truck and thats how I drove it. I love the CVT transmission,so smooth! I am getting about 4-5 more mpg than with my other car. The seating is extremely comfortable, there are almost no blind spots, the windshield is big. Touring in this car is wonderful. The ride is smooth and as you increase the speed its amazing to me that all of a sudden youre cruising at 70mph. I have received many compliments. Folks need to know about this!
