Overview & Reviews
Minor changes are in store for the 2003 Ford Focus. Two new trim levels increase the breadth of prices for Ford's economy car; a base trim for the three door hatchback renders air conditioning optional and only comes with a manual transmission. For the five door hatchback, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, front reading lights and a center console are available when you step up to the comfort trim level from the base level. Heated front seats are a new option, as is a traction control and ABS package. New colors for the exterior brighten up the color palette, and the interior is freshened with two new fabric trims. Finally, a CD/MP3 player is now standard on the ZX3 and ZX5. A SVT version of the ZX5 is also scheduled to appear later in the year.
- Thoughtful ergonomics, large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

2003 Focus SVT European Package (red) - 2003 Ford Focus
By Garry Mohr - December 31 - 2:03 pmI would like to get a new GT Mustang but do not have the heart to sell my Focus SVT to get one (what does that have to say). Its fun to drive, fast for a 170hp and almost 2800lbs, handles like a sports car (which when you drive it, you think it is). The only problem Ive had with it: the clutch assembly had to be replaced due to a rattle sound it made, especially at idle (Ive heard this has been a problem with some because of the complex clutch/flywheel assembly/design). The 17" wheels are somewhat easy to damage if you hit a bad chuck hole (Ive bent one). When I part with it I know Ill miss.

SVT Rules - 2003 Ford Focus
By Obsession - December 8 - 10:00 amExcellent handling, 28+mpgs (no kidding), wonderfull array of features, comfort is thru the roof. Adults of average height (510"-6) sit comfortably in back seat w/ average height driver/passenger (and I have a moonroof).

Gotta luv it - 2003 Ford Focus
By tysride - December 2 - 2:00 amJust picked this leftover 03 ZX5 SVT up last week. Tested just about every car in this class, except GM. Less $ than Mini S, better handling than Matrix XRS, less $$ than WRX, better mpg than V-6 Stang and more room too. I traded a 96 GT convt for this and dont miss it one bit. This is way more fun. Ill wait a year before I bolt on the Jackson supercharger, then itll be even more fun.

Terrific Car - 2003 Ford Focus
By Joe Cardosi - November 22 - 12:05 amMy ZTW-wagon is the perfect urban vehicle. Easily hauls four adults and four sets of golf clubs. It handles like a sports car, is quiet with no rattles or squeaks, good pick-up for a 4-banger, 30-mph on trips, and is well-equipped. I have 6-CD stereo, 4-wheel disks with ABS, stability control, moon roof, 16-in aluminum wheels, low profile tires, vanity cover for the storage compartment, rear window wiper-washer, leather wrapped steering wheel, and plenty of storage pockets, bins, cup holders. It has over 60,000 miles without a single problem. The Volvo S-40 underpinnings help make it a wonderful car to drive.

used car = wow - 2003 Ford Focus
By century33 - September 26 - 5:20 pmWe have owned our Focus ZTW wagon for almost 2 years. Purchased used with 13,644 miles on it, we got this fully loaded car for a great price and couldnt be happier with it. In this time we have driven 42,356 miles and the only repairs were new brakes and tires just within the past few weeks. This wagon is truly fun to drive on long trips. 795 miles = about $70.00 gas when gas was almost $3 per gallon, and the cargo room is great. This car replaced a 1994 Escort wagon LX that is STILL running. We loved that car as well, but needed something newer. In a nutshell... if you are in the market for a new small wagon, consider looking at a used Focus, its a great value.

Awesome car - 2003 Ford Focus
By Tonya - September 19 - 2:43 pmI bought my Focus brand new in 2003, it now has almost 77,000 miles on it and still going strong. Only thing I have had to have done is an all wheel alignment because of the roads I live on. The tires are a little expensive but I think Ford made a right choice with the tire size due to my experience with the Aspire the lower profile tires were a wise choice. I love this car, gets great gas mileage and drive good. It has been very reliable and couldnt have asked for a better car.

Aftermarket - 2003 Ford Focus
By pwallace01 - September 14 - 10:00 amI love this car. I used to drive a mustang and let me tell you. This car handles and responds to driver input much better. Anyone can take this car and drive it fast through a corner. The only downfall i see from the factory is that it only has 130HP. The aftermarket, however, is plentiful. You will like this car.

CD Silver Focus - 2003 Ford Focus
By jeromeswink - August 3 - 10:00 amI enjoy this vehicle and the support Ford gives when purchasing from them. My Mom drives it more than I do because she enjoys the Focus that much more than her car. Ive never owned a new car and it was a very big deal for me. I looked at the Mazda Protege 5, Toyota Matrix and the Ford Focus. Style, options and fitting my 64" frame into the car was big consideration. I LOVE MY FORD FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!
