  • Great Car - 2012 Ford Focus

Have no problems. Have 57,000 miles on car. Trans does shaft fast and cant pull out fast because trans shafts fast. When driving normal car is great. Was allays a GM man and first Ford ever owned and will by a ford again.

I am a college student and my Ford Focus now has 1000 miles. What can I say, I absolutely love my car. I am a car enthusiast and come from a family who has owned Fords since the 1980s. The transmission takes getting used to but once you know how it performs the ride is good. I got my Focus in silver and let me tell you it is a head-turner. Learn how the transmission shifts and you will see the power and economy work.

  • Good car BUT!!!! - 2012 Ford Focus

OK. I thought being in IT I could handle all of the problems with the mytouch. It is VERY buggy even after the patch. The car handles well and gets good gas mileage. My paint is chipping up and the dealer was nasty when I went in after 5,000 miles to complain. I called Ford and they said they dont warranty the paint from chipping and that I should expect that from their cars. NOT Happy about all the chips. Paid $550 to get chips filled in and bought an invisible bra. Otherwise car is very good for the first 3 months.

  • Why this transmission, Ford? - 2012 Ford Focus

Theres a lot to like about this car: cool styling, good fuel economy, comfortable, and handles well. My only gripe, and its a biggy, is the "automated transmission." It is very disconcerting driving this car. If test-driving this car, make it a point to do a left or right turn from a dead stop. The car searches for a gear and lurches when it finds one. Not pleasant.

  • 75K No Problems with reliability - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

Owned for 4yrs and 75k miles. Drive 70 miles a day on main hwys to work. No major issues. 36 - 38 mpg. Just had serviced all good . brake pads 75% left. Upgraded tires for better winter traction. Rear deck material falling apart. Drivers rubber molding comes loose.

  • Great Car With a Few Caveats - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

Love this car, albeit with a few minor nitpicks. Its fast for a base model, drives great with the 5 speed (I did not want the DCT!), handles fairly well and visibility is very good. Power delivery is linear, throttle response has only a very slight lag from the drive by wire system (1/10th of a second or so) and it really comes alive above 4k RPM. The electric power assist isnt as good for road feedback as hydraulic, but is better than other electrics I tested by far. The interior is somewhat on the small side, especially in the back but is just large enough for me and the seats are high quality for basic cloth. The only real nitpicks are the lack of S level features and a few noisy interior parts-no cruise, manual rear windows and no computer functionality except a trip meter. The engine is a bit coarse also and really needs super to run right. I can live with this considering I rarely use cruise and almost never have rear passengers, but do miss having a realtime MPG calculator. The sound system is adequate, but somewhat mediocre in terms of fidelity. Coming from an older VW GTI, this car has almost the same HP, handling, steering feel and responsiveness while getting much better gas mileage. Ive had no maintenance issues except having to replace a dirty air filter and a missing brake fluid cap that someone had sealed with plastic wrap and a rubber band (??).

  • New Focus - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

Just purchased a 2012 Focus with the Titanium package. Candy Blue. About all I did not get was the sun/moon roof and nav. I figured Id buy a Garmin for much less $$ and be just as happy. Its nice to have a smaller car that fits in the garage with more space, gets better mileage...so far 27.2 with around 450 miles on it, it looks good, and has a great stereo. Transmission is sometimes sluggish when initially taking off from a stop and yesterday, some gas dripped on the pavement from somewhere under the car when I topped it off. Ill have to look to see about that.

  • Were Loving Our Focus! - 2012 Ford Focus

Im not sure why everybody hates these cars so much or why theyre all having problems. We bought ours used with 36,000 miles on it. We werent too excited about getting it because of all the problems we had heard about, but this was the only choice we had and we needed a new car. When we first bought it, it was awesome. It drives so smooth. It has an awesome stereo, great interior quality, overall just an awesome car. Weve had it for a while and its a daily driver between my fiance and I. We havent experienced any problems with it. Nothing with the transmission or anything else, its still driving like the day we bought it. Its amazing on gas too. Its a great car and I would recommend it to anyone. The only problems Ive found in it is that its a little on the small side, especially in the backseat and the lack of storage sucks. Other wise, its the best car we have ever owned. We bought it used from a dealership in Ohio and we have a 5 year - 150,000 mile, bumper to bumper warranty so if something does break, its completely covered, but I dont think anything is going too. You have to remember that this is a Ford Focus and not a sports car. I think some of the people having the problems arent treating their car the way that they should be. I think a lot of people complaining about the transmission also dont realize that its a "Electronic Controlled Automatic" but is actually a" Dual-Clutch Manual Transmission". If youve ever driven a manual, you know how it feels, BUT we havent noticed it feeling like a manual. It feels exactly like an automatic should. I came from a 5-Speed Mitsubishi Eclipse before this Focus so I know what a manual feels like and our Focus doesnt drive anything like that so I dont why everybody seems to be having problems. If youre looking for a good car, quick and nimble, great on gas, and an awesome stereo, check out the Ford Focus.

  • Happy, Happy - 2012 Ford Focus

Ive had this car for over a month now (1250 miles) and love how well it handles. I love the manual trans and Im comming from a BMW 328 CI manual! Gas milage is edging up with every fill up. Now avg 29 - 30 mpg only because it is fun to push it around corners and thru traffic. Very comfortable, quiet and user friendly. Sports package is a must! Its still new enough in my area to draw stares, smiles and an occasional nod. So far looks to be a great choise!
