Overview & Reviews
Minor changes are in store for the 2003 Ford Focus. Two new trim levels increase the breadth of prices for Ford's economy car; a base trim for the three door hatchback renders air conditioning optional and only comes with a manual transmission. For the five door hatchback, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, front reading lights and a center console are available when you step up to the comfort trim level from the base level. Heated front seats are a new option, as is a traction control and ABS package. New colors for the exterior brighten up the color palette, and the interior is freshened with two new fabric trims. Finally, a CD/MP3 player is now standard on the ZX3 and ZX5. A SVT version of the ZX5 is also scheduled to appear later in the year.
- Thoughtful ergonomics, large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

Used SVT - 2003 Ford Focus
By Blaise Mikau - March 6 - 1:40 pmi was looking for a sports compact. However the focus SVT was nowhere near the top when i was deciding. the Eclipse, Tiburon, and Mazda Protege 5 were my top choices. However due to a mix up at car max the car i wanted was no longer there. So i looked around. I had heard good things about the SVT to i took a chance. as soon as he open the door i was in love. The leather trim seats were eye catching. Once he started it, the purr of the engine was beautiful. i test drove and was sold. the SVT suspension is surpieror to and other STOCK compact car. This along with the Kit and Exhaust tip, saved me alot of money on visual upgrades. I put a AEM shortram and my cruise speed went from 80 to 90.

First Time Buyer - 2003 Ford Focus
By First time Buyer - February 17 - 10:00 amThis was my first car I bought on my own, right after college. At the time it was the perfect car for me. Ive had the car over a year now and its still in excellent condition and Ive put over 22k miles on it. The sound system sounds great and its a smooth and comfortable ride. Just wish the engine was a little faster, doesnt have much of a pick up. Ive now become bored with the car, and wish it was more appealing to an early 20s market.

Failing Ford Focus - 2003 Ford Focus
By tootnguyen - January 29 - 10:00 amThe focus has proven rather disappointing to own. Mechanical problems and failing interior parts quickly became apparent. The A/C and transmission failed at 4200 miles. Discovery of numerous recalls on a vehicle relatively new to the market is disconcerning. This model is setting automotive records for the most recalls since its intro. The Ford dealers were rude and overworked fixing other focus recalls. More Focus models were in their garage than on the dealers lot. Interestingly, The true test of a the build quality is how a car holds up after the warranty expires even if you dont plan to hang on to a car that long.

Electronics Stinks - 2003 Ford Focus
By LIONDRAGON - January 16 - 2:00 amIve owned this car for 5 months. From the first week it has been in the shop SIX yes 6 times for the same problem. The "check Engine" light keeps coming on then goes off then comes back on!!!!! The battery light goes on and off. The traction assist light goes on/off, on/off. Hey, Ford techs do you ever check the wiring harnesses before putting them into the cars???????? Even the horns worked when "THEY" wanted to.......

Zytec & Automatic - 2003 Ford Focus
By mj - October 29 - 3:40 pmI purchased this car 1 1/2 years ago and I have been very pleased. Ive only gone about 11,000 miles, but have had no problems at all. Very very smooth drive, i.e. good shocks & suspension take the whump out of most smaller bumps. I get between 30-32 mpg on my model with a 50/50 mix of highway and city driving. The passive antitheft is a great feature - without the special radio-enabled key in the ignition, the car wont start. Reduces my worry that the car will be stolen. Very large trunk is nice. Trunk lid does not pop up very high, but a light does appear on the dash so Im ok with that. Also - when trunk closes there are no giant hinges that eat up trunk space. All in all, a great car.

My first car! - 2003 Ford Focus
By Amanda - October 18 - 12:33 amI just got the car a month ago and its great. It was my first car and my dad and I just decided to go test drive a Ford Focus because I had seen them and liked them a lot. We were "just looking" But we found a 2003 ford Focus SE light green type and packed with power everything. We knew this was the car (we had been just looking for a bit, at least for me). And since my dad couldnt find a scratch on it we got it. I have to say if you are looking for a good realiable first car for your teen I recomend this car!
