  • Early Report - 500 miles -So Far So Good - 2012 Ford Focus

I was looking for a safe, fun and economical replacement for our BMW 328i. Bought an SEL Hatchback with leather, rain sensor, back-up warning, 17"wheels, cold weather package, automatic, Sterling Grey Metallic. The test drive impressed my wife and me - I am 63" tall and find the front power seat very comfortable. The car seems to be built to high quality standards. Paint and overall fit and finish are top notch. The car performs quite well - it is quiet, well balanced and just seems to be well built. The BMW is a great car but I do not feel I have given up much with this Focus. It may be a compact but it is a very nice car! If you find one you like - buy it - seems like a hot seller!

  • Ford gets it right! - 2012 Ford Focus

Ford Way to go, Ford! I love driving this car.  We bought for our son.  I liked the 2012 restyle.  After driving it, I was sold.  While some may not enjoy the double clutch automatic, I like it since it reminds me of a manual but I dont have to shift it like a manual!  It cruises along through the 6 gears flawlessly.  It rides like a much larger car.  It is very quiet and rides well.  I now find myself thinking of how I can get my own Focus without upsetting the bank account.  Unfortunately, it will be a long wait because we also bought an Escape for my wife :-).

  • Transmission Silliness - 2012 Ford Focus

Just got a 2012 Focus Hatchback SE. Company car, no choice in the matter. No options except for the 6 speed automatic tranny. I like the car and think build quality is very good. Ive now got about 2 weeks driving and 1300 miles or so on it. There is one thing that I really dont like. The 6 speed auto transmission. Its not that its bad. It actually shifts nice and firm and I like the idea of 6 gears. The problem is the shift point programing. It just shifts to higher gears so quickly and wont drop a gear to accelerate unless you mash the gas pedal. The programers set it up to maximize gas mileage but ridiculously at the expense of drivability. Absolute foolishness.

  • Re-flash - 2012 Ford Focus

Your Ford dealers can "re-flash" or update your computer program that controls shift points, pressure settings, etc. to correct the issues you might be having. I dropped mine off at the dealer this morning so I will let you know how it works after I drive it a few days with the updated tranny program.

  • Two thumbs down for ford! - 2012 Ford Focus

Been sent in for transmission issues 4 times since first purchased new in 2012. Everything from grinding slipping and rolling backwards no repairs every worked just told thats how it works , now at 56k miles the transmission quit completely! Radio repairs multiple times now it just flashes " indexing " car should have been recalled. Nobody in their right mind would own or purchase this unit.

  • Solid, fun little car - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

I recently took a new job involving a long commute, and decided to look at the Focus and VW Golf TDI as commuter cars. Coming from a BMW 335i, I have high standards and the Focus (so far) has lived up to them. Its no BMW, but its a fun car to drive and has enough bells and whistles that it doesnt feel like a penalty box even when compared to a far more expensive vehicle. The engine, chassis, and tranny arent quite as refined as the Golf, but the car is still very solid and fun to drive with a good trade-off between handling and comfort. The Focus blows the Golf away in feature content, and both have very nice interiors for the price.

  • Exceptional compact car - 2012 Ford Focus

Just purchased a new 2012 Ford Focus Titanium w/Winter package, Premium package (leather, push start), Handling package, Moonroof and Nav. The appearance inside and out is stunning; it looks like a far more expensive car than it is, very sleek and high quality leather. The My Ford Touch looks gorgeous but does take some practice, voice command stuff is fun. The leather seats are very comfy and supportive; heated seats work well without being overbearing. Front seat is especially comfy, back seat and trunk can be slightly cramped. Road and wind noise are minimal; the ride is quite "firm" and road feel is excellent. The performance is excellent at highway speeds, if a bit slow off the line.
