This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year ushers in some significant changes for the 2005 Ford Focus. Exteriors have been updated with revised fascias and trim, and the car's oddball interior design has been replaced by more sedate and sophisticated furnishings. Last year's diverse engine lineup has been scrapped in favor of an all-new PZEV-rated 2.0-liter power plant good for 136 horsepower. A performance-oriented ST sedan has been added to take the place of the discontinued SVT Focus hatchbacks; it features a 151-hp incarnation of last year's excellent 2.3-liter PZEV engine. The 2.3-liter loses its squeaky-clean PZEV rating, however. In other news, the typically confusing array of trim levels and packages has been organized into logical and consistent trim lines, standardized across all body styles. New audio systems, increased interior storage and tweaked suspension tuning round out this year's midcycle makeover.

Pros:
  • Spacious and comfortable interior, fun-to-drive character, sharp steering, smooth ride, impressive selection of body configurations and features.
Cons:

  • 2005 Focus wagon - 2005 Ford Focus

Overall handling and performance with the manual transmission is awesome. Great sound system with the 6 CD radio. For a compact, the handling and performance is more than I expected. The fuel economy is second to none in the non-hybrid class. And that is one of the reasons I purchased the Focus wagon. Its nice and roomy too. When "they" said its fun to drive, "they" were not kidding. By the way, Im 65 yrs old and having fun driving it. (and I can afford to drive anything I want and I chose the Focus).

  • Careful if you buy a manual 2005 ZX3 - 2005 Ford Focus

I bought this car, took it on vacation and on the way home, the brand new clutch burned out on a Saturday. On Monday I was told the part was on a national backorder. It would be weeks before it would be ready. I was 800 miles from home. My dealership was awesome. They got Ford to pull the part off the assembly line. The reimbursed me up to a $1000, but not for my missed time at work which cost me another $500. I love the car, but I will not buy another manual after this.

  • Second Focus Wagon even better than first. - 2005 Ford Focus

Just traded an 02 Focus wagon that I logged 54,000 miles in three years with no repair problems. Liked it so well I bought another, this time an SES. The 05 is quieter, steers better, has plenty of pep climbing hills and mountains, and gets great gas mileage. I like the new dash layout. Would recommend to anyone who wants the most for their money.

Summing it up in a nutshell. Dont consider the purchase of any other vehicle until you have at least driven a Focus one time. It is one of the most fun and most reliable vehicles at an affordable price on the road today! Happy Driving!

  • Next car after Ford ZX2 - 2005 Ford Focus

Our 2000 year old ZX2 was still good, but I thought now was a good time to get a new car. I think this 2005 is a much better vehicle with a lot more space. There is so much more space and this trunk gives good space. Also, we have a moonroof(sunroof) and it works quite well. We really are enjoying this car!

When my husband present this vehicle to me, I was very reluctant. I love my ford focus. Not only the performance but the overall look of the vehicle. I am very please with gas mileage per gallon. They way the vehicle hug the curves. Again I am very happy with my focus.

This car runs great and is good on gas. The styling is sharp and the interior is spacious.

  • 6 months 11,000 mile review - 2005 Ford Focus

I bought this car for $13,100 (ZX3 SES with upgraded sound system, side impact air bags, moonroof) July 2nd, 2005. Since then Ive put 11,000 miles on the car and couldnt be happier. It has a lot of pep and handles the corners great. I average about 31 mpg at about 80% highway driving. I thought it would be a little higher, but I heard no cars ever truly meet what is posted on the car by the EPA, so no real concern.
