Raising the bar for compact vehicles, Ford is offering its stability system -- called AdvanceTrac -- on ZTS Sedans and ZX3 Hatchbacks. Ford has also made previously optional features standard equipment. Highlights include a driver armrest on every model except LX and power windows on SE Sedans and Wagons. SE Wagons also get the Zetec engine as standard and can be ordered with a manual transmission. A new manual moonroof is offered on the ZX3 and new 16-inch wheels are standard on ZTS Sedans and optional on ZX3 Coupes.

• Thoughtful and large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, good selection of body configurations and features.

• Lots of suspension movement, not enough low-end grunt, polarizing styling.

  I paid $3500 for my 2001 Ford Focus with 60K on it. 2 years later, Ive put $2900 into repaires alone @ 93K. My car might have very well just been a lemon, but I wouldnt ever buy a used ford again. Get a Honda or a Toyota. Do NOT waste your money! I love the look of my car. If I didnt have to constantly repair this car it would be great.

  I love it. The only problem I have had, (a faulty moon roof switch) was fixed by the dealer with no problem. Corners great and is a blast to drive! Two thumbs up!

  Ive had my Focus LX for only a short time and the clutch has already gone out six times. The rear defrost refuses to work and the brakes are crappy at best. I dont think Im buying American cars anymore.

  After fifteen months of ownership of this Focus, I can report no major problems with this car. The build quality of this car is first rate and the material used are similar to ones used in much more expensive cars that I have seen. Good job Ford!

  Bought low mile 2001 ZTW wagon used, it’s pushing 130k. Been a great car. Fun to drive. Best seats ever and I’m 6’4”. Old, worn warhorse but I’m scared the sunroof won’t close if opened, my AC is gone and the fan only works high. Got my money’s worth out of it.

  Great price on my ZX3 - 2001 Ford Focus

  I really like this car. Its fun to drive and it has alota pep in it for a small car. I got this car 8/04. The dealer was having a big sale but in their add they missprinted the price of my car! I got it for just under $7,000! Its loaded except it doesnt have a sunroof:( Front Brakes sound and feel weird some times but they work when you need them. I have drive 1000 miles on it just this last month lol. The car came with 57,000 miles on it already. When I got the car the bumper had lots of specaly dots of missing paint. But the dealer hooked me up with a free touch up job. Another cool thing they gave me free was keyless entry.

  if Ford made only the Focus, they would be out of business in a week. this car has the worst shifting manual transmission ever, even worse than my 1959 Austin that did not have sychro. the throttle sticks in cold weather and the dealer admits that they are all crap. another Pinto, thanks a lot Ford

  I bought my 2001 Ford Focus Wagon new in 11/00. After trying a few versions, I selected the 5-speed manual with the Zetec engine (dont believe the reviews that say this is not available!). I also got the "comfort package" which included a number of options tht are nice; I think the cruise control is part of that package. This car holds a full-size concert grand harp and still gets 36 miles per gallon. It is comfortable, fun to drive, and I have had no problems with it. There was one recall for a minor part that had not affected my car at all and it was taken car of easily & promptly. Excellent dealer service. Whattagreatcar!

  MY ZX3 - 2001 Ford Focus

  Ok, i got a silver ZX3 with 23,000 miles on it and it is an absolute joy to own. makes everyday trips fun with its sharp-as-a-knife handeling and zippy engine (although it could use some more zip) i can fit almost anything into it and yet it is so small on the outeside and easy to park. The seats have good support and i fit easily into the car (im 65"). I would recomed a focus to anyone who wants a good car on a budget.
