Overview & Reviews
Four new Focus models debut for 2002: the ZX5 five-door hatchback, the well-equipped ZTW wagon, the sport-tuned SVT hatchback and the Mach Audio ZTS. No matter what Focus you pick in 2002, a power moonroof can now be ordered. The high-end ZTS Sedan loses its standard ABS and crummy fake wood dash trim while gaining a rear spoiler. An in-dash six-disc CD changer is standard on ZX5, ZTS and ZTW but optional on all other Foci except the LX Sedan.
- Thoughtful ergonomics, large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

Id Buy It Again - 2002 Ford Focus
By Dan - September 11 - 10:43 pmI had a Subaru wagon and loved it. I would have bought another but the price was twice that of the Focus. This was the 1st American car I had bought in over 20 years and quality and dependability were concerns of mine. I will have the car 3 years in August and almost 40,000 miles now. There was one very minor flaw at the time of delivery, and only regular maintenance since. I am very happy with my Focus.

Do NOT buy a Ford Focus! - 2002 Ford Focus
By Chill - July 31 - 5:40 pmDespite regular maintenance and only 52,000 highway miles, the engine completely blew up. $4K to repair! Lots of rattles and very loud going highway speeds. Rear power window mechanism broke for no apparent reason. Radio would turn itself off on a daily basis. Fuel efficiency was about 30 mpg and it handled okay, but who cares when the engine goes at 52K miles?! Whatever you do, stay away from this car. Just because its popular doesnt mean its a good choice! Ford does NOT stand behind this car. Better get the extended warranty because youll certainly need it. There are better ways to spend your money -- the Focus isnt the answer.

Lot of car for 11 Grand - 2002 Ford Focus
By etubrutus - July 12 - 10:00 amToo many recalls for small petty things. Nothing major or safety related. Build quality only rated a 7 because of it. Interior has enough room for all 63" 240 lbs of me. Rear area hauls as much of my stuff as I want. Car handles great, which helps to overcome the desire to go faster. I like the ZX3 because the door openings are huge and the A-pillar doesnt hit me in the shoulder.

I like this car - 2002 Ford Focus
By triangle - June 1 - 2:00 amAfter 22,000 miles I finally admit to myself: I am in love with this car. At first I was I was a little disappointed with the gas mileage. 25 miles / gallon on highway is not that much. But this is getting better as the car gets more experienced. In average over 22,000 miles the car is at 27,5 miles / gallon now tendency rising. The reliability was not an issue. All I had to do was to change the oil every 5000 miles. But the best about this car is the ride. Smooth. The best car I ever had. Excellent cornering speed, quiet ride, and macho acceleration if needed. It is a small car, but for me: long commute, usually alone, this is the car.

Not Happy - 2002 Ford Focus
By clarkdnr - May 30 - 10:00 amInitially it seems as though you get a lot for the money with the Ford Focus. Once you really spend time with the car, however you learn that you have been ripped off. Mine is in the shop for the 4th time in one year. Currently it is having a trunk latch repaired, theres been a recall on bearings and they have to completely rebuild my transmission. Everytime service has been a nightmare (rude, unknowledgeable, difficault to get a rental). Watch paint job on delivery. The interior, though well designed is made of low grade materials. Im going back to Toyota!

Feels like an import! - 2002 Ford Focus
By nguyen - May 30 - 10:00 amI just bought this car a week ago and overall very impressed with the car. It drives very smooth and feels very solid. The Zetec engine is very quiet and smooth with lots of torque. Acceleration is very smooth and doesnt feel as powerfull due to how quiet the engine sounds and feel. If there is anything negative about the car would be the quality of the finishing due to the fitting of the plastic trim and possibly the quality control as I just had a wheel alignment at 300 Miles.
