Overview & Reviews
The emissions-friendly 2.3-liter PZEV engine released in limited states in 2003 is now available as an option in all states (it comes standard in California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Maine). The only other notable changes to the 2004 Ford Focus are newly optional leather seating for ZX3 models, and a slightly revised suspension offers improved handling.
- Thoughtful ergonomics, spacious interior, fun-to-drive character, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

Bang, Zoom - 2004 Ford Focus
By powelldg - October 26 - 1:35 pmIm happy with the car overall. It was a year old repo, so the price was very reasonable, and its just what I wanted - 2.3 PZEV, stick. Nice combo of performance, economy (good but not great) and utility (the hatch).

A Great Little Car - 2004 Ford Focus
By AllanPaul - September 26 - 10:00 amI leased a 2-door Ford Focus for three years. I loved the car. It handles like a charm and is exceptionally roomy for a vehicle of this type. I drove it cross-country. It was comfortable and pleasureable to drive. I just put gas in. No problems. In fact, I liked the car so much, I bought one when the lease ran out...the 5-door model (4-door + hatchback). It is well designed, very dependable and a great family car. With the back seats down, you can carry almost anything. This car is a smart buy.

Focus is JUNK - 2004 Ford Focus
By april - September 20 - 2:50 amThis is a terrible car. Ive had it almost a year and have had numerous hassles with it from the paint, CD player, air conditioner, and the exhaust. If you are looking for quality, DO NOT buy this car. It is a total LEMON! I will never own another Ford.

sports car in disguise - 2004 Ford Focus
By recharged95 - August 28 - 2:36 amThis is the car with *the full package*. Not just shoving an S/C or turbo on for bragging rights, this car runs like a tuned European car WITH [some] torque. It handles, brakes, sounds (thumping stereo!), excellent road feel, and rides comfortably. Excellent daily driver for those on the go -- hatchback capability and room is excellent. This car is for people that know how to drive and wants a relaxing, involved driving experience. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to drive and yet utilize the full potential of their car, hence its demise :(. Only thing to look forward is most manufacturers have taken notice and are integrating SVT DNA into their lineups for better cars.

2.3L makes the car - 2004 Ford Focus
By mtk - July 18 - 5:47 pmBought a year ago and absolutely love the car. Unfortunately Ford decided to drop the 2.3L in the ZX3 for 2005 which I believe was a great combination. I had a 6 cylinder Ranger that sucked gas and this car does better but not great. I tend to "drive" the car and get around 24 mpg city without the A/C on - average, not bad. The car only cost me $10k brand new (with rebates and A plan). Ive spruced up the interior a bit as there are many aftermarket items out there for the Focus which personalize without being gaudy. Fun to drive. No problems to date - go out and buy one used if you can find one. Make sure it is a manual to maximize the fun factor. Did I say it was fun to drive?

Affordable Downgrade - 2004 Ford Focus
By MR.B - May 9 - 2:00 amI would still recommend the Ford Taurus as a well built, safe car, but the Focus is a well built smaller more affordable car. You need to get the top model in each style to get the larger engine (2.3) which makes all the difference. The standard sound system with MP3/CD has great sound. A moonroof is great but the sport package is not needed.

Focus Driven - 2004 Ford Focus
By Focus on Tracie - May 4 - 10:00 amI have been driving my new Focus ZX3 all over town and went on my first long trip, I have never had so much fun driving! The ride was comfortable and smooth, yeha for cruise control. I just want to say my car has not suffered a case of Focus abuse yet! Thanks Ford for making such a great vehicle! A Loyal Ford Driver!
