Overview & Reviews
Raising the bar for compact vehicles, Ford is offering its stability system -- called AdvanceTrac -- on ZTS Sedans and ZX3 Hatchbacks. Ford has also made previously optional features standard equipment. Highlights include a driver armrest on every model except LX and power windows on SE Sedans and Wagons. SE Wagons also get the Zetec engine as standard and can be ordered with a manual transmission. A new manual moonroof is offered on the ZX3 and new 16-inch wheels are standard on ZTS Sedans and optional on ZX3 Coupes.
- Thoughtful and large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, good selection of body configurations and features.
- Lots of suspension movement, not enough low-end grunt, polarizing styling.

Focus Drives Well - 2001 Ford Focus
By martyiv - November 26 - 3:36 pmI have had nothing but a great time with my Focus and I am glad I chose it over the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Echo. The Focus gets up and goes with the Zetec option and is great for my long commutes to work. A joy to drive!

Great Vehicle - 2001 Ford Focus
By MHadden - November 9 - 2:00 amAlthough Ive only had my Focus ZX3 for a couple of weeks now, I can still say this is one of the best built economy cars on the market. The frame is solid, engine is perky especially when you get above 4k rpms. It is nice going down the road and barely here the engine or road! I would recommend this car to almost anyone!

2001 Ford Focus-so far so good - 2001 Ford Focus
By Happy Focus Owner - October 12 - 2:00 amHave owned my Focus since October of 2001. I get 27mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway. Have experienced no problems in 22,000 miles. It is fun to drive and handles well in Michigan winters. The trunk is huge for a small car. Have had several passengers express their suprise for how nicely the car rides. The controls are placed well. Ford appears to finally have the world car they have been trying for since the Escort was introduced. Hopefully, the problems they had when the car was first introduced have been resolved. My Focus has had no recalls.

Costly Mistake - 2001 Ford Focus
By MeganRC - August 30 - 2:00 amMom & I bought "foci" & regret it. Ive replaced my ignition @30K mi; my moms was replaced twice @ the same mileage. My check engine light is on & dealership didnt fix the trouble; they reset the light. A week later the warranty ran out & the light came back. I wont take it to Ford due to disappointing experiences @ 2 shops in 2 parts of FL. My mechanic said this trouble could cost 150-500 depending on if its a leaking hose or a defective valve. My moms is having this problem (still under warranty)& the dealership said it didnt cover this & it would cost her 300+ to fix. The fabric on the seat has worn all the way through in places-Im 120lbs

Focus Wagon - 2001 Ford Focus
By GaryL88 - August 23 - 10:00 amBought a used Focus Wagon with 11K miles on it. Previous owner had put on 4 new Goodyear Eagle Aquatred3 tires on it at 7K miles. Now I have 29K on it and have chewed this set of tires - uneven wear. Anyone else have this problem? Yes, I had the alignment checked and rotations done.

My ZTS - 2001 Ford Focus
By gonegolfing - July 30 - 10:00 amI think this is a great little car. It is fun 2 drive and has many conveniences for a small car. It could use a little more power but overall it has been a great car for the price.

By JC64 - July 22 - 2:00 amI found this vehicle to be so exciting to drive, that if Im in a bad mood when I enter the cock pit module, I autmatically cheer up. its really fun to drive and handles very well. I have raced cars and motorcycles and theprformance of this car for the price in untouchable. Highly reccomend it.

Buy a Honda civic instead - 2001 Ford Focus
By Bend me over - July 4 - 2:00 amIve had this car for just over a year now. I paid between $17-18,000 for it and it is only worth about $6500 as a trade in now. That is only about 1/3 of the selling price. they also need to do something about the seats. my drivers seat is worn out already.

Terrific car! - 2001 Ford Focus
By FordForever - July 4 - 2:00 amI love my car! Everyone who drives my car loves it. It looks small and bubbly from the outside, but thats just because of the large head room. It seems to have as much space as my friends altima. Its fun to drive but still very sensible. I could have afforded alot more, but am so happy that I gave this a try. My boyfriend is considering getting one too, even though it means both of us would have the same car.

Look Elsewere - 2001 Ford Focus
By THIS CAR SUCKS - July 4 - 2:00 amI have had my Ford Focus for a year, with nothing but problems. First my driver side door lock breaks. I take it in, get it fixed, all is well until........my passenger rear door has the same problem. UM excuse me, this shouldnt happen once, but twice. The car is nice looking, and it has some zip, but I would recommend a KIA over this car, if you want a quality car, dont buy Ford, I will never buy a Ford again.
