  • Dont buy this car, it sucks - 2012 Ford Focus

I usually keep a car 10-12 years, but this piece of junk was gone in less that two, at a big financial loss. All electronics suck, wont keep my Android phone synced and its a real pain to re-sync it. Whole Ford myTouch and Sync systems really poor. Naviagation hard to use. Worse yet is the tranny, 80% of the time when I put my foot down it will go, but 20% of the time it sits there and shakes like its gonna fall apart. Dangerous car to drive, you cant rely on getting out of a bad situation. Front wheel drive, but REALLY poor in snow. Grew up and learned to drive in the snow belt - this is the FIRST vehicle I was actually afraid to drive in bad weather.

  • My wife says "Its adorable" - 2012 Ford Focus

I bought a SE Hatch with Sports Package, and the beautiful Tuscany leather interior. I wanted to park my 07 Shelby Mustang GT (preservation and better mileage) and get something cheaper to wear out commuting to work every day here in Houston. I could not be more pleased, and my wife says its cute and adorable. Its a win-win. I see some new owners with issues and problems posting here. Those should be taken in context, this car is a brand new design (for the US) and coming out of a brand new (reconfigured) plant. Theres always growing pains related to those two things. I highly recommend the 2012 Focus. Read the magazine reviews, almost always picked #1 over the competition.

  • wish they would fix it now! - 2012 Ford Focus

Wow, we just did a 420 mile roadtrip last thursday and couldnt get past 28.7 mpg and that was mostly interstate driving. took it in to dealer and they said its just still trying to figure out your driving habits. WTH! and I dont like the jerky take offs we were told to drive it another1000-1500 miles and if its still doing it to bring it in. it is alittle cramped inside compared to my 2005 focus. But otherwise I like the car .

  • Horrible - 2012 Ford Focus

DO NOT BUY. The transmission is absolutely horrible and ford will do NOTHING to fix it. I have broken down 2 times, my car will not accelerate and the RPMS just go crazy. I have had it in the shop 3 times within the past 2 months and they refuse to do anything for it.

First of all the transmission is terrible. my 2012 hatchback has had me stranded many times. On top of that the whole fuel system malfunctioned an had to be replaced. Ford should take these cars off the streets an give the people who have them something else something SAFE to drive.

My review after two months of being an owner and an aggressive driver: Overall I think you get a great car for the price. It drives great, gets the advertised gas mileage, great sound system, I assume its as safe as the reviews say, although i havent been able to test that (knock on wood) and it looks sharp. There are a few suggestions/improvements id like to see Ford make to send this car to the top of its class, but overall I would recommend this car to a potential buyer.

  • Ford should get out of selling cars - 2012 Ford Focus

Nightmare! Transmission/clutch is out. The car is sitting collecting dust. Took the car in while still under warranty for transmission and clutch problems. Expecting them to replace the clutch but instead they cleaned the clutch checked it on the computer and said it was fixed. 3k miles later I took it back in for the same problem. They said the clutch is out and it is no longer under warranty and they were not going to fix it. It will cost me $2000 to fix with no guarantee that the clutch will not go out again. Prior to this happening I had a car accident because the car shut off while I was driving. I though I did something wrong but to find out it was the transmission. Besides that the dealer said there is a 3 month wait on the clutch. The law firm that is representing the class action lawsuit said they go to court in 2017. In the meantime, i have a lemon and I cant make lemonade. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER AMERICAN CAR! [non-permissible content removed]. How can the Japanese make such great cars and America puts out such crap?

Jumps and grinding noise dont buy dont buy.

  • Lacking in a couple areas - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

I bought my 2012 Focus on January 14th. The interior styling is nice. The car is responsive with the sport suspension package. The gas and brake pedals are a little too close together. This car is no speed demon in any sense of the word but it does well. I am not getting the advertized gas mileage even though the eco system says I am a champion. The car des seem to stumble a bit when parking in close areas. Dont plan on carrying passengers in the back seat unless you have short legs and can move the seats up. Average people forget about it.
