Overview & Reviews
The new model year ushers in some significant changes for the 2005 Ford Focus. Exteriors have been updated with revised fascias and trim, and the car's oddball interior design has been replaced by more sedate and sophisticated furnishings. Last year's diverse engine lineup has been scrapped in favor of an all-new PZEV-rated 2.0-liter power plant good for 136 horsepower. A performance-oriented ST sedan has been added to take the place of the discontinued SVT Focus hatchbacks; it features a 151-hp incarnation of last year's excellent 2.3-liter PZEV engine. The 2.3-liter loses its squeaky-clean PZEV rating, however. In other news, the typically confusing array of trim levels and packages has been organized into logical and consistent trim lines, standardized across all body styles. New audio systems, increased interior storage and tweaked suspension tuning round out this year's midcycle makeover.
- Spacious and comfortable interior, fun-to-drive character, sharp steering, smooth ride, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

Good Buy - 2005 Ford Focus
By Ford Rules - February 10 - 2:47 pmGot this car in July of 2005. Great deal with incentives and finance rates. The Focus has a better suspension than my old Civic and you sit a lot higher. Very roomy inside and no problems with 10k on it. Getting about 26mpg in city and 32mpg highway.

Focus on fun - 2005 Ford Focus
By martine4 - January 28 - 3:47 pmThe Ford Focus ST experience has been a good one. The car is small, a virtue in my situation, handles very well, is very comfortable, and has all sorts of creature comforts one wouldnt expect at the price. I dont see many ads for this car ... Ford doesnt need to advertise it heavily because word of mouth from satisfied owners do the trick. I have had the car for ~9 months and have ~5900 miles on the car. It has never missed a beat! All features cruise control, 6-disk CD player, skid control (in Iowa we occasionally need this sort of thing), 4-wheel disk brakes. Everything works. Heating, cooling ... no problems. Its reliable and I enjoy driving it.

ZX3 Pitch Black - 2005 Ford Focus
By desm0derek - January 18 - 8:11 pmBought this car after researching smaller models. Found it was designed by an esteemed designer. Looks are terrific and the finish is excellent as you would expect from a Euro designed car. Driving is a hoot and the performance is more than acceptable. I also managed to get 2 high back chairs in the large rear after folding the seats down. Economy is 30mpg at all speeds although if you use the power higher up it drops slightly -- 27ish. All in all I am very pleased with the car and actually chose this over the BMW 323 because of the price differential the BMW didnt offer the extra edge to warrant the price. The Mazda 3, Nissan, Toyota and GM vehicles were a bit lacking in quality.

Worth every penny! - 2005 Ford Focus
By Phil - January 8 - 10:10 amI test drove everything in this price range & for the money you cant beat it. It has nice 2-tone interior, 6 disc CD changer with subwoofer, awesome exhaust note and with $4200 in rebates & discounts I ended up paying about $14,500! Try to get a Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic for that price. This vehicle is no hot rod but it is very fun to drive.

Fun and quiet - 2005 Ford Focus
By jereme - December 7 - 7:20 pmExtremely quiet car, sporty, quick shifting, and comfortable. I was in dire need of a car after my previous one failed (73 Beetle). This was not my first choice, as I am still not a fan of the looks. But price and warranty definitely pushed the choice for me.

MUCH IMPROVED - 2005 Ford Focus
By durability05 - November 15 - 10:53 pmPreviously owned a 2000 Focus LX, until I moved up to SUVs, still own 04 wrangler and 04 Pilot EX. I use this Focus as a commuter car, and it is not only cheaper than my 2000 Focus. It cost me only $12,000. It is much improved, especially in power ,auto transmission, handling and braking. And it still retains its exclusive Euro traits, excellent car!

fun to drive - 2005 Ford Focus
By ljcollaz - November 10 - 9:53 am3 months owning the car and am more impressed than when I first bought it. MPG holding in the upper 20s, handles like a dream with a responsive Mazda engine. Hopefully the engine will last like my 13 year old Miata, which @ 140,000 miles is almost indestructible. Ford is doing their homework to compete with the imports.

Ford Focus ZX4 SE - 2005 Ford Focus
By All4Godjl - October 26 - 5:20 amThis car wasnt even what my wife and I were originally looking for. However when we saw the gas mileage, exterior style, and heard about the safety features we decided to buy it. I was hesitant about buying a Ford, however we have put 28000 miles on it in one year and drove from CA to TX. The car is still doing good. Its got a few down sides but over all its a 9 out of 10.

Fantastic economical ride - 2005 Ford Focus
By Melissa - October 11 - 6:16 amFor a compact car, the Focus Sedan has an extremely roomy interior. The backseat easily fits one car seat and two adults with no loss of "oomph" from the engine. Throw in miles of trunk space for a stroller or two and you have a great economy family car.
