This Year's Model Updates:

The emissions-friendly 2.3-liter PZEV engine released in limited states in 2003 is now available as an option in all states (it comes standard in California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Maine). The only other notable changes to the 2004 Ford Focus are newly optional leather seating for ZX3 models, and a slightly revised suspension offers improved handling.

  • Thoughtful ergonomics, spacious interior, fun-to-drive character, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

Is it true? Fun to drive? YES!! This is gonna be the weirdest thing ever, but with the way this car handles and the 5-speed control and the awesome design... I actually enjoy sending those car payments out!

Its fun to drive, and gets great mileage. Only problem is squeaky breaks. I Love it.

I bought my focus in the January Of 2003, and its been the best car that I have ever purchased. Its fun to drive, comfortable and totally cute. I bought the ZX5 because I haul my brothers and sisters around all the time, but I also was going through the "I want a Hatchback phase". I am totally pleased with my Focus, and would totally buy another one.

very torquey when I first got it I had to get used to a little torque steer when you lay on the gas. I think that I would stiffen the suspention. it feels a bit flotty.

We tow this vehicle behind our motorhome. This is so cute and compact that it is a perfect companion to our Excursion. We take this for our small jaunts. The rear cargo area is exceptionally roomy and easily accessable. Just an all around fun car to have!

I just bought a new Focus ZX5 last month and it is the funnest car to drive. I traded in an F150 and I am just so happy not to have to park that HUGE truck anymore. And I can even fit a 30 inch TV in my Hatchback!

Great car, super fun to drive, holds the road and curves like a sports car. Comfortable even for me at 6-1" Decent if not great fuel economy. Road noise is there, but similar to any small car. I have 2003 ZX5 Premium with sunroof in Egg Yolk Yellow. It gets admiring looks and feels more expensive than it is. After rebates, it only cost me $12,500. It could definitely use more power. If I were to buy a 2004, Id opt for the 2.3L 145-HP engine and leather seats. Leather would make it feel like a car costing twice as much.

Ive had my SVT ZX-5 for over 2 years now, and I love the car more now than I did when I bought it. The car loves an autocross course and twisty back roads. The silver exterior and the black leather with red insert interior look great.

  • Sweet Surprise - 2004 Ford Focus

We purchased our Focus as a commuter but we use it so much more. We never buy 4 cylinders with automatic transmissions, but here its perfectly mated. Steering is direct with good on center feel. The 2.3L PZEV engine is refined and responsive. Its quite roomy and the hatch lends SUV utility. At 40,000 miles, it has been totally reliable. Its solid, tight and remains an absolute pleasure to drive. Plus, the Audiophile in-dash 6CD stereo package is amazing in such an inexpensive car. Its also reasonably quiet, although better sound proofing could make this car nearly perfect. All in all, a dynamic, fun, surprisingly premium experience.

A great car, wonderfully flexible and spacious interior, never felt claustrophobic like other cars in its class that I looked at (like Corolla, Matrix, Scion, Civic, etc.). 28 mpg average city-and-highway driving, and I drive in New York City. Zippy handling, comfortable ride, a real pleasure to drive. Why anyone who wants a small car buys anything else is beyond me. This car is a great bargain and completely reliable.
