Overview & Reviews
Raising the bar for compact vehicles, Ford is offering its stability system -- called AdvanceTrac -- on ZTS Sedans and ZX3 Hatchbacks. Ford has also made previously optional features standard equipment. Highlights include a driver armrest on every model except LX and power windows on SE Sedans and Wagons. SE Wagons also get the Zetec engine as standard and can be ordered with a manual transmission. A new manual moonroof is offered on the ZX3 and new 16-inch wheels are standard on ZTS Sedans and optional on ZX3 Coupes.
- Thoughtful and large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, good selection of body configurations and features.
- Lots of suspension movement, not enough low-end grunt, polarizing styling.

Still debating - 2001 Ford Focus
By Half and Half - October 4 - 4:26 amWhen I bought it, it was the best value and the most pleasant car in its class. The problems I have had are minimal, however they are still problems with a car 1 year old. My DPFE sensor on my dash has malfunctioned twice. And I had that same chatter in the back window above 55 mph. Luckily I have not hit the big 36K yet. But when I do these defective pieces may come back to haunt me in the service dept. Other than that the car has been reliable.

Be warned!!! - 2001 Ford Focus
By mschief - September 7 - 10:00 amI was just informed that my focus is corroding from the inside out. Nice huh? The first door went this week, they told me at the dealership they could fix it, but next time (not IF it happens again, but WHEN it happens again) the whole latch assembly will be replaced. The same symptoms have already started on two other doors. This is all besides the O-ring being replaced, the Oxygen sensor dying, and a cylanoid being replaced as well. Anyone want a focus?

ZX3 Rocks - 2001 Ford Focus
By akbossman - August 24 - 10:00 amGreat from the get go. I have found it to be as much fun as a Mustang! Many companies already make items for you to make your custom wild or mild. Dont bother buying the power windows etc you can reach them with no problem. I spend 2 1/2 hours a day in this fun little car and I m 63"

Depends on when you ask me - 2001 Ford Focus
By soylentboy - August 19 - 2:00 amI have often been asked about how I like my car. It looks good and Im in a Ford town. Well, it depends on when you ask me. I find the performance and the handling very good. I had a Miata and i dare say it is somewhat similar. However, I have been plagued with ticky tack problems. Seats, seatbelts, rear defogger, turn signals.....Very disappointed from that standpoint.

review - 2001 Ford Focus
By puil - July 26 - 10:00 amI have been quite happy with the vehicle. It is fun to drive, very comfortable on long stretches, and not too noticible when I happen to speed a bit. Stealthy. No problems keeping with traffic at any speed, but would always love more power. For the money, I cannot complain. I have had no issues and I hope that continues. I plan on driving it another 200,000 miles.

This is a very reliable car! - 2001 Ford Focus
By focusguy - July 1 - 10:00 amAs my title says, this has been a very reliable car! I bought it new, with 5 miles on it, and it has performed wonderfully. It is a very comfortable car for both myself, at 270 pounds, and my wife, at 130 pounds, so it fits just about anyone! A very nice interior design. The exterior is also very pleasing. And the power... for the standard SP1 engine, I am quite impressed, you wont have any problems with this one.

Ignition Cylinder Locks - 2001 Ford Focus
By Focus ZX3 - April 2 - 10:00 amIve had this car in for the same problem 4 times. The ignition cylinder locks up and leaves me stranded, and the only option is to having it towed. 6months later back in the dealer same problem, old part number again. 3months later same problem but new part number.(as if a new part # really helps) They say the key is the problem and thats what causing it to lock up. Itll cost $150 to cut new keys. This of course isnt under warranty..If they had any custumer service this wouldnt be an issue and would of all been handle at the inital repair process.

ZX3 NIRVANA - 2001 Ford Focus
By Quentin - February 28 - 10:00 amIve had my 5 speed Focus for a little over a year and I love to drive this car to work. Im 6 2" and I fit well in the drivers seat. The engine, transmission, steering, suspension and brakes are incredibly capable and satisfying. My Ford dealer has been great. The only defect was a faint rattle in the rear which was a vibrating shock absorber, quickly diagnosed and replaced.

ZX3 Nirvana - 2001 Ford Focus
By DC Boomer - February 23 - 10:00 amThis is a great commuter car, perfect for quick maneuvers and fast stops. Im tall and the seats are comfortable and the visibility is great. The only defect was a faint rattle in the rear which was quickly repaired by the dealer. The ZX3 is a great value for the money.
