The emissions-friendly 2.3-liter PZEV engine released in limited states in 2003 is now available as an option in all states (it comes standard in California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Maine). The only other notable changes to the 2004 Ford Focus are newly optional leather seating for ZX3 models, and a slightly revised suspension offers improved handling.

  • My Ford Focus - 2004 Ford Focus

When I bought my Focus I was looking for a reliable affordable car to get my kids to school, me to work and to the supermarket. But I have to say it is really a pleasure to drive. It responds quickly and tightly to any kind of situation. Smooth shifting, great mileage, and a fun ride overall. A fun fun road trip car. And after three years of a NYC commute and transporting teenagers it is still in excellent condition - not a tick or a sputter. I did my brakes and will do my shocks but this is totally chalked up to NYC roads and driving conditions.

Originally, I had wanted an SE, since I didnt really need all of the extra junk that the ZTS has. However, since it was the end of the model year I ended up getting a good deal on the ZTS. The 2.3L engine is quite peppy for a 4 cyl, and the car handles like a sports car that costs thousands more. The interior is quite comfy and can easily hold four people without much effort. The trunk is surprisingly large, probably due to the height of the back of the car. The styling of the car is okay I guess, but I am not much into that sort of thing. My only complaints are that the fuel mileage is very disappointing for a supposed economy car, and it seems like the exterior scratches easily.

  • Fun little hot rod from SVT - 2004 Ford Focus

What a great car! Having owned SVT products in the past, I have always been impressed with the performance, handling and all around fun factor of these cars. This Focus was no exception. That being said, it does have its "quirkiness", mainly that the engine has an emissions-control function that makes the revs hang in-between shifts and that the dual-stage flywheel takes some getting used to. However, these are easily corrected by a "tune" for the ECU. It also adds 10 HP to wheels and allows you to scan for DTCs. The car handles extremely well for a front driver. You can actually get it to four wheel drift!! I have the EAP package-a must have!

  • I recommend! - 2004 Ford Focus

I bought my car a few days ago. I have had a great time driving thus far and I look forward to driving it every time I go outside. Although I have not stepped on it (regardless of the apparent factory breaking in) I feel as though I should give it at least 500 miles of easy driving to keep the seals from busting. I outran an Integra without evening givin it too much gas:)

  • Love it! - 2004 Ford Focus

I bought this 04 SVT back in August of last year in Nebraska, flew in signed the paperwork, and drove back to Ohio. I was not dissapointed. This car is fun to drive, great mileage, and with a few mods, you can up the ponies and the performance for just fraction of the costs for other vehicles.

  • Most fun car Ive ever had - 2004 Ford Focus

The version has power and PZEV to boot! I was glad to finally turn in the mini van for this. Its always fun to drive. Only things Ive improved was to change the radio from 6 dish CD to Mach 500, 6 disk and new speakes. Added cabin filter (it really works well). High performance rotors and pads.

  • Zero To Hero - 2004 Ford Focus

I traded in my manuel Protege for this so my wife could drive also and hated it from the start because it was boring and I didnt have trust in Ford cars. Now its my work car and after driving it more I have learned to love it and trust it. Its had zero problems so its my hero. Just wish it was a manual with a cd player and power windows, but its the base. Overall this is the best vehicle to have for a work car. I hope it stays this good for the next 50k since its got 50k on it now.

All i can say is what a great car. This car has everything and more expected from a Ford vehicle. even though subaru makes a faster car i dont see it being as nice as the svt, and not to mention its 5000+ dollars more price tag. The car i own is equipped with the european appearence package, and wow is that worth the money. if anything ford is selling this option to cheap. all in all the best car i have ever owned, (even though my last car was a 1991 porsche 944 S2!)
