  • So disappointed - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

Unfortunately I have to agree with many negative reviews on this page. Recently I have just been constantly, constantly taking my car to the shop. The horn stopped working a while ago, and now I am having engine and transmission issues. Today was the last straw, was just too unsafe to drive. Will have to take it back into a shop. Ive never had a car have so many problems this frequently.

Looks great ...very solid feel. Super seats, not sure I liked the BLACK plastic all over everything.....need possible tan options. It was just the right size. The handling is 1st class. The power was a little lacking....I am used to an accord v6 manual. I look forward to driving a high performance model. The car can certainly handle the extra power. Economy.......the read out said 30 mpg ...hopefully that will improve. Ford is onto a GREAT thing here. There was NO manual to be had anywhere to drive...It is only a 5 speed anyway ....only the auto is 6 speed.......WHAT WERE YOU THINKING FORD ???

  • Worst mistake weve ever made - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

Buying this car was the biggest mistake we ever made. Its given us nothing but problem after problem after problem. Bought it at 36k miles, its now at 80k. Most days my husband takes my 2001 Chevy Lumina to work to avoid driving this plague of a vehicle. It is quite literally a hazard on the road. It shifts terribly, and at lights, you have to accelerate cautiously because theres no way of knowing if the car is suddenly going to upshift 2 gears from a dead stop and rear end the car in front of you. People think I dont know how to drive when they see me trying to drive out of a parking lot at low speed, which this car is not capable of doing, because its constantly trying to upshift or downshift and causing you to rocket forward and then you have to brake to slow down. And the brakes are extremely touchy on this car, far too much so. Ford has sent bulletin after bulletin asking car owners to bring their Focuses in for repairs on the clutch and transmission. The last time we did that, the very next day, the car got stuck in 2nd gear on the highway which prevented it from going over 25mph and my husband almost got into a wreck. We had to have our insurance tow the car to the dealership because Ford refused to come out. Then they kept our car for 11 days!!! They said it would be a one day repair but I got excuse after excuse when I called asking where my car was. They did NOT offer us a loaner during those 11 days. We finally gave up and although our Ford drives like its on its last legs (which it probably is), we arent letting Ford touch it again. The next time we bring it to a dealership, were coming home with a replacement car. We paid $16,000 for this car less than 2 years ago and its worth less than $10,000. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR.

  • Buyer Beware! Be AFRAID - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

I bought a 2012 Ford Focus and have been disappointed ever since. It is the worst vehicle I have owned. It has been recalled twice in a year because of transmission problems. I had to take it in again on my own recently. The transmission in these vehicles is a real mess. Save yourself headaches and buy a Corolla. I had one and it was one of the best cars I have owned. I have major buyers remorse with the Focus. The car even stalled when i was driving on the highway. It is truly a road hazard. The Ford Fiesta has the same transmission problems. The F-150 appears to be the only vehicle made by Ford thats worth it.

  • Really safe and good but needs a few improvements. - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

I purchased my Focus back in May of 2011. Recently in Nov of 2011, the vehicle was t-boned at an angle by a Toyota Highlander. To my surprise, the Focus performed great! Only a little airbag burn on my arm and that is it. Very impressed. Unfortunately the dealer had the vehicle for 70 days and there were just too many post repair issues, so I traded it in. Now let me not let you think its perfect, because it had some issues. My dashboard was replaced due to a crack(early model issue), the vehicle developed some rattles(none of my Fords 97-04 rattled), the tranny had shifts issues, MyFordTouch had its issues and the engine flipped out once and revved high(fluke?). Enjoyed the car, miss it.

  • The Horror Story - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

Shortly after purchasing our 2012 Ford Focus, we noticed a shuddering noise, coming from the front end. Had it checked several over and over. We were told it would stop approx. after 1000miles.Surprise, Surprise...4000 miles now and STILL making noise.. Spoke to FORD CORP, several times.. We were told it is within standards and is normal... How can a car that draws attention when shifting, be normal??? FORD has a problem!! I guess they dont know how to fix it.. THANK YOU FORD!!! for making our life totally stressed and exhausted.. we are at our wits end and are ready to surrender the vehicle. O by the way, noise in the gas tank area as well.. grandkids wonder what the noise is!!!

  • Transmission will kill you - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

The redesigned transmission for this model is completely flawed. Been stuck on the freeway and unable to even shift my car into neutral to move it two separate times. The Ford delearships have refused or been unable to permanently fix it. The resale value of the car is now garbage and i will have to eat the cost for trade-in. My car was bought certified pre-owned with 6k miles on it and had transmission problems from the beginning. Ford has lied to its consumers about this car and its going to get people killed. Dont buy and stop considering this car..

  • Avoid the Focus, buy Toyota instead - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

For starters, the transmission has some serious issues. It causes way more problems than buyers are aware of. The transmission is faulty, it messes with your entire electrical system, and Ford is the absolute worst when it comes to dealing with this issue. Just now, I cant even get the car to start sometimes. It will stall out on you in the highway and your radio will not work after 40000 miles. Trade it or get rid of it. Avoid any and all Ford cars. It will fail on you eventually.

  • Fantastic Focus - 2012 Ford Focus
    By -

Traded in an Audi Q5 for better gas mileage and lower payment. Expected to feel like I was downgrading, but the Focus was quite surprising. Interior is comfortable and well laid out. Quiet inside with solid ride. Sound system is not quite up to Bang & Olufsen system in Audi, but not bad at all. I actually like the My Ford Touch interface better than Audis MMI. Lots of nice touches in this car that even Audi does not offer (e.g., LED interior lighting and a sunglasses holder that actually holds an adult pair of sunglasses). Test drove Elantra and Focus was much, much better. Car is brand new so averaging only about 28mpg. I hope this number improves as the car is broken in.
