This Year's Model Updates:

Minor changes are in store for the 2003 Ford Focus. Two new trim levels increase the breadth of prices for Ford's economy car; a base trim for the three door hatchback renders air conditioning optional and only comes with a manual transmission. For the five door hatchback, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, front reading lights and a center console are available when you step up to the comfort trim level from the base level. Heated front seats are a new option, as is a traction control and ABS package. New colors for the exterior brighten up the color palette, and the interior is freshened with two new fabric trims. Finally, a CD/MP3 player is now standard on the ZX3 and ZX5. A SVT version of the ZX5 is also scheduled to appear later in the year.

Pros:
  • Thoughtful ergonomics, large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

  • One of the best cars - 2003 Ford Focus
    By -

Absolutely love this car. One of the best I have ever driven, fun every time I get in it. Really changes the concept back to driving and away from commuting. I wish the mileage was a little better, especially since it takes premium. Also, it eats tires like the Cookie Monster, but it is a fair trade, I will take it any day. Cant say enough, too bad Ford stopped making them, not enough performance. It definitely isnt a drag car, but luckily, the real world has corners, and that is were this car puts a HUGE grin on your face!

I love to drive my little Focus. I am a Grammie and it is the best car for the bucks. I feel very secure and comfy in it and it handles well. Perfect for traveling back and forth to work and milage is excellent.

Of all the cars that I have owned, this is the best car that is out there. Me and my wife drove to Florida in this car right after I purchased it, it was very nice.

  • Great Value - 2003 Ford Focus

I am a private investigator and I use my vehicle for work. I drive around 30k miles per year so fuel economy and durability are important to me. So far I have 65k miles on the vehicle and it has never been in for repair since the first month I owned it. That issue turned out to be a faulty spark plug. Sometimes I need to drive in alleyways or other rough terrain. I admit I do abuse this poor vehicle but it has taken it all and still is ready to go every morning. I recommend this car for young drivers or anyone needing cheap reliable transport.

  • Too Few Made For Ford To Care - 2003 Ford Focus
    By -

With only 4800 made for the US, Ford does not want to invest in fixing an idle problem common to many SVTs. Lots of little problems - stalling, poor low-end torque, fog lamp with condensation, loose plastic buzzing in engine compartment, backfires on deceleration.

  • A Car for all season-reasons - 2003 Ford Focus

Very comfortable and easy to drive. Well equiped and fun to run.Too early to judge reliability and fuel economy. Best $CND for car of this class.

  • Nice Wagon - 2003 Ford Focus
    By -

This is a great little wagon with exceptional gas mileage. Right now has 100,000 on it an still running nicely. The ignition lock froze up around 70,000 and had to be replaced and the shift solenoid in the tranny was just done last week. Other than that, just general maintenance. Have driven this car all over the country and its always started and run nicely. I do not go to dealerships for upkeep on my car, I go to Firestone so havent had problems with recurrent brake issues, etc.

  • Better than 28 MPG ! - 2003 Ford Focus
    By -

Love this car.... I work for a Ford Dealer and decided on this car after a customer passed on a great deal. I havent looked back. I drive agressively and average better than 28 MPG with an EPA rating of 20/25! Its a joy to drive, but does need more torque at lower RPMs.
