This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year ushers in some significant changes for the 2005 Ford Focus. Exteriors have been updated with revised fascias and trim, and the car's oddball interior design has been replaced by more sedate and sophisticated furnishings. Last year's diverse engine lineup has been scrapped in favor of an all-new PZEV-rated 2.0-liter power plant good for 136 horsepower. A performance-oriented ST sedan has been added to take the place of the discontinued SVT Focus hatchbacks; it features a 151-hp incarnation of last year's excellent 2.3-liter PZEV engine. The 2.3-liter loses its squeaky-clean PZEV rating, however. In other news, the typically confusing array of trim levels and packages has been organized into logical and consistent trim lines, standardized across all body styles. New audio systems, increased interior storage and tweaked suspension tuning round out this year's midcycle makeover.

Pros:
  • Spacious and comfortable interior, fun-to-drive character, sharp steering, smooth ride, impressive selection of body configurations and features.
Cons:

  • This car is great! - 2005 Ford Focus

The fuel economy is great. I remember the 2000, 2001 Focus as being not the best around. Boy it sure has grown up. The 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty is a plus. (I think that is only available in Florida though).

  • excellent car for a low price - 2005 Ford Focus

As far as Im concerned...I think that Ford has a excellent car in the Focus. It has a lot of pep, and gets good gas mileage. Ive done two tests so far and have reached 32 mpg on average. Thats about 70% stop and go 30% highway. You can pay 3-6K more for a Honda or Toyota ... but what you are really paying for is the history that its reliable. Id take the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty then my chances afterwards...and pocket the $6,000.

Since purchasing my Focus Wagon my great-nephews (in a car seat and boaster seat) have had a great time traveling about in our area. There is also enough room for my niece in the back with the boys. Everything is so easy to get to and to get the boys in their seats.

  • My Focus Wagon SE - 2005 Ford Focus

First wagon I ever owned was a 1964 Falcon; after that I have owned several wagons including 9 passenger large wagons. Went to a smaller wagon when the Taurus came out and have owned several of them; however this Focus wagon is one of the best handling and most economical vehicles I have ever owned. I havent had one problem with the car, even my wife likes it, and that is the best testimony ever. (you have to know her)

Great for starter car for students. Carries 5 people (good for carpooling) and has plenty of room for equipment if your child plays sports.

  • Outstanding small car. - 2005 Ford Focus

Great all around carl good driver vision in all directions. The automatic is spot on. Gas mileage averages 30 mpg. Easy to park. Changed the tires to Pirelli Nero Zeros. Now it is a better ride with less tire noise. This car is a GREAT BARGAIN wiith the rebates and low financing rates. If something happened to this one, I would purchase another.

  • Im very happy with my Focus ZX5 SES!! - 2005 Ford Focus

This is a really nice small car. Four adults can be carried comfortably with plenty of room in the hatch. It has a rather tight "European" type suspension that handles great with the 16" Pirelli tires. Just a bit harsh on chuckholes, but a very good ride most of the time. Gas mileage has been as predicted on the window sticker at 26 city/ automatic. Since our temperature averages about 40 degrees (F) in November the milage has lowered to more like 22 or 24 city. Still very good! Lots of power and pick up. A joy to drive. The 6 disc CD player is of better than average quality. My Alpine in the other car outperforms it, but not by that much.

  • WOW whatta car! - 2005 Ford Focus

OK, I have a cat named Chevy if that tells you anything. I swore I would never ever buy a Ford, but after test driving a Focus ZX3 SES I must say, I was floored. I ended up getting the SE model but love it just the same! It gets great mileage, runs great, is pretty zippy, and is all around a great deal. I must say, I will probably trade this in in a few years for another FORD! :)

  • 2nd Ford Focus - 2005 Ford Focus
    By -

This is our familys second Focus. We also own a 2000 Focus that my son and daughter fight over. Even with all the recalls the 2000 Focus had, we still love driving that car. The 2005 Focus was purchased fully loaded, and that means it even has remote start. The new motor has even more pep than the 2000. In real life every day driving, its just a whole lot of fun. The steering is very responsive, and the motor gets up and goes!
