This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year ushers in some significant changes for the 2005 Ford Focus. Exteriors have been updated with revised fascias and trim, and the car's oddball interior design has been replaced by more sedate and sophisticated furnishings. Last year's diverse engine lineup has been scrapped in favor of an all-new PZEV-rated 2.0-liter power plant good for 136 horsepower. A performance-oriented ST sedan has been added to take the place of the discontinued SVT Focus hatchbacks; it features a 151-hp incarnation of last year's excellent 2.3-liter PZEV engine. The 2.3-liter loses its squeaky-clean PZEV rating, however. In other news, the typically confusing array of trim levels and packages has been organized into logical and consistent trim lines, standardized across all body styles. New audio systems, increased interior storage and tweaked suspension tuning round out this year's midcycle makeover.

Pros:
  • Spacious and comfortable interior, fun-to-drive character, sharp steering, smooth ride, impressive selection of body configurations and features.
Cons:

  • Exceptional Small Car Value - 2005 Ford Focus

The 2005 Focus ZX4 ST model is an exceptional small car. Fun to drive, powerful 2.3 liter four, tight 5-speed shifter, and great handling with sport suspension and 16" low profile Pirelli tires. Only option on mine is side curtain air bags. Comes well-equipped with 4 wheel disk ABS, good base sound system w/6 disk in-dash CD changer, cruise control, keyless entry, etc.

As much fun to drive as my miata, less noise, more comfortable. Reminds me of my 80 BMW 320 in its handling and performance. Fold down seats accomidated a full size futon frame and mattress. Great car for the price especially after rebates.

I had an SUV, so the fuel economy is flat out great. For the price, the ST model looks good, has plenty of cool features and is fun to drive. Anyone looking for a low cost fuel, efficient and fun car shouldnt sleep on this.

I just bought the 2005 ZX3, having previously bought a 99 ZX2, and Im impressed with the refinement. I really liked my ZX2 (still do, actually), so I was surprised how much more advanced the Focus felt when I got behind the wheel. It rides smoothly, quietly, and relatively sprightly. You sit much higher. The steering wheel feels and looks nice and the stick feels much more "short throw" and precise. The clutch is effortless. Its easily the nicest car Ive owned, out of 4 used and 2 new cars. Its roomy. Its solid. Above all, its very reasonably priced. Ford is finally meeting the Japanese in quality, and (slightly) beating them in price. Kudos!

I PURCHASED THE FOCUS 2005 WAGON. THIS YEAR THE CAR COMES EQUIPED WITH 16 VALVES. THE CAR HAS INCREDIBLE PICK-UP FOR A FOUR CYLINDER ENGINE! PLENTY OF PAY-LOAD FOR THIS SIZE WAGON - DRILL WEEKEND I HAD NO PROBLEM DOWNLOADING ALL MY EQUIPMENT WITH THE BACK SEAT DOWN. PLENTY OF HEAD ROOM. GREAT SOUND SYSTEM. OVERALL, VERY PLEASED WITH THE THIS VEHICLE!

I had totaled my 2000 Elantra, and wanted something different. This car has it all. 3 door hatch is very cool looking. It drives like a dream. 5 speed is easy to use every day. great, supportive seats, quiet. and dont even get my started on the 500 watt Sony sound system. Personally, i think its the best stock stereo i have heard. blazing copper metallic paint (orange) and 3 door hatch looks like nothing on the road.

I own a 2005 Ford Focus door hatchback zx3 and I love it, I traded in my 2000 focus and made the greatest decision ever.

  • Dependable - 2005 Ford Focus

Its a big car in a small car body. The inside is roomy and comfortable. It handles the roads nicely, has great pick-up and doesnt drive like a typical 4 cylinder. Plows through the snow just as good as a SUV without the low gas mileage. Its a great bang for the buck car; I bought a loaded Focus for $18,000.

I bought the 05 Focus ST, and I tell you I am surprised with how much I like this car. I didnt like the styling very much of the previous model, but 05 I think gives it a better look, inside, and out. The ride is great, power great. Content for just under 19 grand is excellent, has everything I wanted, and a few I didnt know I wanted. I would recommend to anyone that told me they were looking at one.
