  • A good family car. - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

The car drives very well. I have 3 kids and they have enough room for long trips. The trunk is big. In the snow it did very well. I do have two things I do not like. It lacks power and my dash has a bump in it that Ford says it cant fix. The bump showed up within 4000 miles.

  • Bad Experience - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

Even though I had very good service from my foreign cars, I wanted to give the American cars a chance. I purchased my Ford 500 based on good reviews and after a few weeks I noticed that I was losing several quarts of oil. I have the receipts for the oil. My dealer told me to bring in the vehicle. I did and after several days, a new engine was put in the car. After a few days this engine started giving me problems. I took it in and found that the engine was not put together in correctly. It was repaired in a day. In both cases I had to insist on work order that proved I had a problem with the car. The second time I was told I could not have a work order, so they typed a memo.

  • Inspect It Carefully! - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

The Bad: Our white 500 had massive problems with areas of the car not being painted (primer showing through) and with paint runs/defects. Lower front bumper, door jams, inside trunk areas etc. It also had problems with the sheet metal along the rear door seams and rear quarter panel being deformed. Theres also the issue of the notorious heat bubble that shows up on the center dashboard console that Ford will not currently fix due to a "pending solution." Next you have the gas tank strap recall that is also pending. The Good: The fuel mileage and cruising range are very good for a car of this size. Achieved 550+ miles on highway trips from the 20 gallon tank. Transmission is impressive.

Ive enjoyed my 500 very much! I travel 150-200 miles a day. The comfort and ride are excellent. I intended on purchasing a Mustang but due to limited back seat space (I have 2 children - 13 and 6), I really needed more room. Salesman suggested I look at the 500. I fell in love when I sat in the vehicle. I am VERY satisfied with my purchase. Window tinting and a spoiler give it a nice sporty look.

  • Replacement vehicle - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

Before purchasing this vehicle, we owned an 01 Mercury Sable LS Premium sedan. My Sable was a great car and had all the amenities for someone new the owning a sedan. My Sable was starting to act its age (it had 107,000 miles on it at trade-in), so it was time to find a suitable replacement. We bought the 500 used, but it definitely didnt look to be used. The previous owner this vehicle very well and it seems practically new. Even though Ive only had it less than a week, and I do miss my Sable, this is a more than suitable replacement. It offers plenty of room for all us (I have a toddler with a large car seat), handles well and is just a great overall car.

  • Great Vehicle - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

Purchased a fully loaded Ford 500 Limited with everything except the adjustable pedals. We have driven the vehicle today over 112 miles and have only used 1/8 of a tank of gas. In my truck I would have used 1/2 of a tank to travel the same distance. Fun to drive.

  • most underrated car - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

I have been very impressed with the Five Hundred. This car has tight handling like a sports car and rides like a much larger and more expensive car. Gas mileage is respectable 19.2 mpg local driving with air conditioning on. I dont understand why Ford is keeping this such a secret.

  • Its about time - Ford - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

I have just been impressed for the first time to buy a sedan since 1976. I am a pickup/SUV buyer for almost 30 years. The new 500 is sweet, and the best part is the view from the drivers seat. Right On Ford, its about time you lived up to your Job 1 claim.

  • nice commuter - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
    By -

I needed a comfy commuter with auto transmission, decent mileage, fairly quiet ride that was around $26k. This Limited does what I need without the big price tag. The looks are fine (silver with black interior) and visibility from cabin is excellent. At 500 miles on engine, I get around 30 mpg cruising 55-70. Heavy pedal lowers mpg to low 20s. Engine is smooth and quiet and six speed auto works well. Highway passing is adequate but I usually drive alone. This cars handling feels like a smaller car with a good turning radius.
